We have been amazed, since getting into the world of cloth diapers, just how many kinds of diapers there are out there. We have a few different styles in action, and have seen some more and they truly aren't all made equally. I think it's also a case of different styles suiting different families as well. Some of our favourites have been the
Tot Bots Easy Fit, which we've been using for quite a while now. When I heard that there was a new Easy Fit, I was keen to try it out.
The diaper is made in Scotland (somewhere I've always wanted to go!) and the Tot Bots company is careful to source ethically produced products. The Tot Bots Easy Fit and Tini Fit are distributed by
Bummis in North America, a company who's been making cloth diapers for many years now.
One of our favourite features of the Easy Fit has been kept in the new model: the liner that comes out by itself in the wash and is super easy to stuff back in (and no one needs to wonder which liner goes with this diaper, as it stays attached the whole time!) The inside of the diaper used to be made of bamboo and microfibre, and it's now made of minky, which absorbs more and dries faster. I've noticed that it's also thinner than the previous liner, making the diaper fit trimmer than ever. Now that the diaper's out of the wash, I'll post a picture of the old and new together, so you can compare.

The
new Easy Fit is available with hook-and-loop closure or snaps (or poppers, as they say in Scotland!). I've liked hook-and-loop closure the best, as it seems quicker to put on and take off, but now with a little person who has started taking her diaper off by herself, I think the snaps will come in handy! :) Another thing I like about snaps is that they don't get stuck to each other in the wash. It seems, no matter how careful I am to fold over the hook-and-loop tape tabs on the diapers, each time I wash I get at least 2 diapers stuck together. And I've noticed that lint gets stuck in the tape too, making it not stick together so well.
The new version of the diaper is much more colour coordinated...snaps or hook-and-loop tape, liner and threads are all dyed to match. We received a diaper for trial in Pomegranate colour, and it does have a bright red inside as well! I wondered how it would be, but I've found out that it resists staining in a wonderful way! And I'm happy to report that any solid waste is easy to shake off the minky into the toilet - and doesn't seem to stick at all (remember that my "baby" is 18 months old, so her bowel movements are normally very solid - newborn poop might stick a little more).
Easy Fit diapers have wider elastic in the back, and fit comfortably across the tummy - I think this is our new favourite!! They've just been released on the North American market, so check your local (or online)
Bummis retailer.
