A Mother's Gift ~ GIVEAWAY!

Have you ever wished for a way to capture your memories, favorite moments, dreams, and the wisdom you've learned throughout the years? For a way to capture this for your children and your family? I know that as a mom, I want to share so much with my children...and I want them to remember the good times and to learn from us grown-ups who have gone before them and have made mistakes and now "know better!" "For My Children: A Mother's Journal of Memories, wishes and Wisdom" is a beautiful book that is perfect for holding onto memories and words of advice. It's a great way to remember vacations, traditions and to pass these memories on to your children. Both of us moms here at Glimpse received a copy of For My Children...here are our thoughts on it:

Andrea's Thoughts:

I truly LOVE the idea of "writing a book" for my kids. Oftentimes I've learned things the hard way and even now I soak up the advice and thoughts of those who've gone before me! I want my children to be able to both learn from us and to be able to sit down and read & reminisce about funny family memories, and the special things we've done together. I love how simple For My Children makes it for us to document memories, advice, etc. It has plenty of helpful prompts to get us writing - even if you're not a natural writer, it will be easy to fill the pages of this book! The prompts given on the pages are a great way to help Mom record on paper the answers to questions that our kids never thought to ask but would love to know.

I absolutely love this book, and the idea & concept behind it. I want to leave a legacy behind for my children, and this is a simple way to do that. As the years of motherhood go on I am certain I will be filling the pages of this book, and hope that once it is filled it will become a keepsake for our family that will be treasured for years to come.

Julie's Thoughts:

I've always liked the idea of journaling, but I've never been very good at it. This book makes it easy to write, as the audience is specific the prompts are clear and open-ended, creative enough to spark thoughts for writing, but still very down to earth. Each page starts a new prompt, giving you a predefined space in which to write, so there's room for quite a bit without feeling like you've started a never-ending task. You can write this as you go, so you don't forget things that happened, but it's very different from a baby book in that you mostly write recollections or feelings around situations and events, rather than specific details like when baby's 8th tooth popped through!

My first thought when I flipped through the book and read some of the prompts, was that this would actually make a great gift for my mother - to write for me! I can see this making a great gift for a mother to pass on to her child(ren) as they start life on their own, get married, anticipate their first child etc. There's lots of room to write personal experiences and advice. I think it would be a wonderful collection of memories to read through as you are entering a new stage in life.
