Freedom with Protection ~ GIVEAWAY! ($25 Amazon GC!)

Safety for our children is a big deal these days - and it seems that it's getting harder and harder to protect them and keep them from a lot of the "gross-ness" that is out there now. However, I strongly believe that it is our duty as parents to protect our children to the best of our ability, and that includes online protection! Technology is at the fingertips of our kids these days and with so much access to technology it can be hard to keep track what our children and doing and who they are communicating with. We recently were able to try out an email that is set up for kids (or teens!) and is a safe email service for families. We loved it!! KidsEmail.org is a company that gives your child an email account which also allows the parents to be "in-the-know" about any emails that are sent or received.

KidsEmail.org has tons of great features. A few of our favorites were:

~ Parental controls (with a separate login name & password)
~ spam filtering
~ Allows your kids to only receive and send emails to those in their contact list
~ Removes images from emails
~ Removes links from emails
~ Allows parents to approve or deny any email sent to your child using the mail queue
~ Filters out offensive words found in incoming emails
~ Parents receive a copy of all incoming and outgoing messages

Of course, many of these features are controlled by the parent and you can decide how much freedom you want your child to have with their email account. One of the more fun features is that your kids will even be able to change the look and feel of their account by choosing from several great templates (the race car one was a hit with our son!) There is also a simple mode for younger children (this worked great for our kids) and a more advanced mode for older kids/teens.

The mission of KidsEmail.org is to protect children from predators, pornography, and email from strangers. And in our opinion, their safe email system does a great job of keeping our kids well protected and keeping parents informed about their child's online activities. KidsEmail.org is definitely an option that I would consider using again in the future for our family. It's a great way to allow your kids to learn about computers, email, etc., yet it also gives parents the peace of mind to know that their child is protected from the potential dangers that could present themselves.

WIN IT! KidsEmail.org is giving one of our readers a $25 GC to Amazon! In order to enter please follow the instruction on the form below. Open to Canada & USA. Contest ends July 14, 2012.
