TGIF Family Fun Nights with Pizza Hut!! ~GIVEAWAY!!

Ok, so I know yesterday wasn't Friday...but it felt sort of like a Friday, or maybe more like a Saturday! :) In any case, it certainly felt like a day I didn't want to cook supper! I had a bunch of outdoor jobs to do and didn't want to spend a lot of precious nap time indoors preparing a meal. So we called it TGIF Family Fun Night and ordered in from Pizza Hut!



We haven't ordered from Pizza Hut in a while, so I went to their website to check out the menu. I was able to find what I wanted, although it's a bit tricky to maneuver around the website to just look without online ordering. You can see the topping options, but not the size options before starting an online order, and we needed to figure out the size of the pizzas to make sure we would have enough. We finally settled on the "Dinner Box" and an extra medium pizza, as we had company.

Dinner Box

The Dinner Box includes an appetizer (10 boneless Chicken Bites), a main (half a panormous pizza) and a dessert (Chocolate Dunkers). It's available until June 3, 2012, for $19.99.

The Panormous pizza is apparently actually 2 rectangular pizzas, approximately each equivalent to a medium pizza. I can't find official dimensions of the pizza anywhere (on the Pizza Hut website or elsewhere), and I forgot to measure it with a ruler before we started! It was 8 square pieces, about 10X10 cm (4X4 in). It's a good thing we ordered another pizza, partly for another flavour, and partly because we needed more than that for 3 adults and 3 kids (our kids really like pizza!) The Pizza Hut crust is very thick and filling, although the kids found the crust edge a bit too wide for their liking. The pizzas were tasty and we really enjoyed the combinations we choose (Hawaiian and Grilled Chicken Arrabiata without the chili peppers, which sort of takes away the Arrabiata, but made it better for people who don't enjoy spicy).

The signature WingStreet boneless chicken bites are more like chicken nuggets than wings. They are breaded and coated with a sauce, and you can choose among a selection of sauces (Buffalo Burnin’ Hot, Buffalo Medium, Buffalo Mild, Honey Garlic, Honey BBQ, Spicy BBQ, Spicy Asian, Garlic Parmesan). We had the Honey BBQ, and it was quite nice, sweet with a slight tangy bite.

The kids thought the Chocolate Dunkers were tasty and love dipping things - who would love dipping something into chocolate sauce? Basically it was pizza crust, topped with a chocolate topping, cut into sticks, that you could dip into the sauce (provided). We adults thought they were unnecessarily greasy on the bottom.

The Dinner Box is a handy and reasonably priced dinner for a small family. I thought it could have had more vegetables (ie salad?) instead of so much focus on meat and bread, but that's the Mom in me! :)
