Label those leftovers! Giveaway!!

Have you ever put a dish of leftovers in the fridge or freezer, certain you'll remember what it is, and when you find the dish, you have no clue what's in there anymore?! This happens to me quite frequently, especially with frozen stuff. You can't taste it properly, and it doesn't have a recognizable smell...and once I've defrosted it, I'm committed to using it somehow or throwing it out.

Labels are the answer to your problems. My mother uses masking tape, and while that's somewhat effective, it isn't perfect. For one thing, the tape doesn't stick so well, and for another, it's not very pretty. And what about if you're preparing a container to take - and you want the container back? Well, then you want your name on it as well.

We received some Date Labels from Oliver's Labels, and they really do the trick. They can have your name preprinted on, along with the design of your choice - and I should mention, while they have a lot of kid-friendly designs, they also have quite a selection of more "sophisticated" styles as well! The labels come with a special pencil, that can be "erased" with a soapy cloth, so you can reuse your labels once they're stuck. Because once they're stuck, they're meant to last through fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. I've been trying them out on my favourite leftover containers, but I imagine they would be super for if you are taking food to daycare, or for several children on a holiday...you know exactly what's in the container. There's lots of space to write the contents and the date.

Oliver's Labels is the brainchild of owner Debbie, whose nephew was forever losing stuff by throwing it out of his stroller. After designing durable and attractive labels, she also came up with the Found-It system, and idea I think is absolutely brilliant! When you're ordering labels, you have the option of including a Found-It code on each label. Someone finding one of your lost items can go to the website, and you will receive an email about your lost item. You never have to put any of your personal information on your labels - Oliver's Labels acts as an intermediary between the loser and the finder!

Labels are available for many purposes, and are sold in sets as well. A neat feature of Oliver's Labels is that you can customize your package.

Win it!!

One lucky Glimpse reader will win a $20 gift card to Oliver's Labels! To enter, please tell us how you would spend your $20. Contest open to Canadian residents only and ends December 16, 2011.
