Safe & Secure in the Tub ~ GIVEAWAY!

All my kids and babies have LOVED their baths! Who wouldn't? Nice, warm water to splash around and play in, bubbles, etc! My kids would play in the tub until the water was completely cold if I let them. :) Even our littlest babe - Jenna - loves the bath! If she's crying and having a fussy night, a bath will remedy that almost every time. There's one thing that I've struggled to find though for my babies and that is a bath seat that works well. We did have the one that you can find at Wal.Mart - it's the wire frame with a mesh cloth. It did work, but not well. Jenna was always slipping and sliding down and that metal bar at the bottom can NOT feel comfy under their little bottom! Well, Childish Notions recently sent Jenna one of their very first "Notions," the Daphne Bath Seat. This has made bath time EVEN more enjoyable for our little girl...and for us as parents too! The design of it is fabulous and you can definitely tell that it was very carefully designed and well-thought through. The Daphne bath seat was designed with the help of a pediatrician and is contoured to support your baby VERY well. It cradles your baby and leaves your hands free to do the washing. :) Here are some of our favorite aspects of the seat:

~ It enables newborns to follow the voice of parents as neck and head are well supported. The seat is raised high enough that the baby can look around with ease. The first time I sat Jenna in it she gave me a HUGE grin! :) She looks right into my face and can watch everything I am doing with the way that this seat is positioned.
~ The position of the seat makes it possible to wash your babies hair without getting water in their eyes! It is a higher-sitting seat, yet, it's got just enough of a backwards angle to make sure that any water that you pour over their hair goes back into the tub and not into their eyes.
~ It's suctions cups anchor it to surfaces such as large sinks, baby baths and directly in bathtubs.
~ It has an adjustable slide stop so you can easily adjust the seat for larger or smaller babies. I love that this seat grows with your baby from birth to about 8 months old!
~ It's Lightweight, portable and comes in several different colors!

The only part that we figured could be improved was padding. The seat is all plastic (which is great for easy cleaning though!), but it might be nice to have a little padding of some sort under their head. However, this was easily remedied by placing an extra washcloth under Jenna's head! Despite this fact, I would still 100% recommend the Daphne Bath Seat to any mom! It truly IS a great invention and it is very loved in our home - by both baby and mommy! :)

Great Wipes!

If you're using cloth diapers, you're probably also interested in cloth wipes. I've tried some that took ages to get wet. Other cloths take a super long time to dry. Nothing has seemed quite right. If you're not using cloth wipes, you probably still want some kind of soft cloth for bathing your child, or, my personal favourite, wiping their face after a meal!

The Sling Sisters has come up with a great cloth. Made of 100% organic dye-free cotton sherpa, these cloths have one "fuzzy" side which is great for scrubbing dirty faces or whatever else! We've also used these cloths as bath cloths and they work great. The other side is smooth and great for washing as well. The cloths feel soft even after may washes and uses (and even after line drying), so they're great for baby's delicate skin, or you might want to try them on your own face (etc!) as well.

I also like the cloths because they can absorb a lot of water (sometimes that face really needs it!), but it's possible to wring them out to just barely damp, so they dry quickly (a bonus when you're camping, for example) and don't stink so quickly - a great feature when it's hot and humid. They're a great size too - 8X8 inches square, and nicely finished on the edges.

Tommee Tippee Comes To Canada!! ~ Giveaway!

Having a house full of little people, there are always sippy cups and dishes to deal with. Over the years we've tried a few different types of cups that are not supposed to leak... um... yeah. Not a whole lot of success! So I banished all sippy cups from my house, and we stuck with normal cups and water bottles.

Well, just a few weeks ago I was contacted by Tommee Tippee with the opportunity to try out some great new-to-Canada products! I was sent a big box full of different products from Tommee Tippee, and we've had lots of fun trying them out in our house.

Our favorites are by far the Stage 5 Drinking Cup, the Easi-Mat, and the Weaning Bowls. These are all part of the bright and cheerful Explora line of products.

The Drinking Cup is exceptional. Like I said, we've never had great success with sippy cups. They always leak, no matter what. So my first test was to fill it up, and shake it upside down. No leaks!! I was extremely impressed. It is also an insulated cup, which makes it a great option for outside, or in the vehicle.

The Easi-Mat is a great tool when children are learning to feed themselves. Bria, at age 3, can make quite a mess while eating, and this helps to keep her bowl on the table, instead of in her lap. Rowan thought it would be great fun to see where it would all stick. His first location of choice was the fridge. It stuck no problem! Then he tried the wall. Again, no slipping or falling off. Very cool!

The weaning bowls work together with the Easi-Mat to make a great feeding system for new eaters. I can't wait to let Emery have at it :)

Keen sandals

Summer footwear - it's hard to know what to wear! Some days you need rubber boots (actually a lot of days here on the prairies this summer), other days shoes, sandals, flip flops, etc etc... And, it's hard to find something durable and easy to wear and maintain, especially for kids.

Organic Little Peach ~ GIVEAWAY!

We don't often spend a lot of time thinking about it, but clothing really does play a big role in our lives! We wear it all time time, we wash it and take care of it all the time, and with growing kids we also shop for it a lot! Emily got the raspberry hoodie and t-shirt - they're just perfect for little girls! We love our clothes from Peachy Bean Baby - they are incredibly soft, and as comfy as can be - just right for active babies and toddlers! There's a great set of items for boys as well in the Cocoa line, and you'll even find some double-layer organic fleece crib blankets for your littlest ones. One thing that I really love about these items from Peachy Bean Baby are that the sizes go up to size 4T! Those of us with older kids know how difficult it can be to find quality clothing like this in larger sizes...so it's a treat to find a fabulous shop like this who makes their clothes for the bigger kids as well! Pink Panda Fabrics & Lennah Designs ~ Giveaway! 2 Winners

So, what do fabric and jewelry have in common? Hmmm... well, you could say they go hand in hand pretty well, and I think that the owner's of Pink Panda Fabrics & Lennah Designs would have to agree!

Stella (owner of Lennah) and Cheryl (owner of Pink Panda Fabrics) met over 10 years ago in university while they were studying engineering. They lived in the same residence for a few terms and after graduation, Cheryl went off to work in an office cubicle while Stella continued her studies and completed a PhD.

Fast forward a few years - they lost touch, became career women, got married, had a daughter each and reconnected online - all thanks to FACEBOOK!

Stella and Cheryl are IRL (in real life) friends and have yet to find time in their busy parenting schedules to hang out despite living only 10 minutes away from each other. Their degrees may say they are engineers, but to their daughters, Stella and Cheryl are the best cooks, arts and crafts program directors and nursery rhyme singers. Oh, and they can put together a circuit board for you if you need it!

I was sent products from both of these lovely ladies to review. From Lennah I was sent the gorgeous limited edition Zoe with a donut pendant. This has been my go-to piece since I got it. I love that it is light weight, has a breakaway clasp (for when Emery builds enough muscle to pull hard), and has the perfect colors. The fact that the beads are tested non-toxic is awesome too. I know Emery has had the pendant in her mouth more than once, and I haven't had to worry about how safe it is.

It was really hard to choose which necklace to go with, but I'm so happy with Zoe! I don't think you could go wrong with the great color combos available.

I have written about Pink Panda Fabrics before, and I'm very happy to share again! Pink Panda offers much more than your run of the mill fabric store. Fun, stylish, designer fabrics and sewing patterns are available, all with free shipping within Canada! Pink Panda carries fabrics by well known designers including Michael Miller, Alexander Henry, Amy Butler, Heather Ross Etsuko Fuyura. I don't know about you, but I've searched high and low for designer fabrics in Canada, and they are really hard to come by, never mind the free shipping.

Just to give you an idea of the fun things you can whip up with fabric from Pink Panda, here's a couple ideas. I just recently completed this birthday banner with fabric that I was sent from Pink Panda Fabrics. It was really easy, and a fun project that I know we will get a lot of use from! I just received another package from Pink Panda yesterday, and I hope to make some goody bags for Rowan's fifth birthday party with these fabrics.

Where can you LUG today?

I've always been a small purse person, and I've usually used the kind with the long strap that can go over one shoulder and hang on the other hip. But I've finally given in to the bigger purse mode, and I have to admit it is handy, although tempting, to carry a little bit more than just enough for me. Since we don't need a diaper bag for every trip out the door, I started looking for a medium-sized bag, that would carry a few extra things than just what I needed, and still crossover the shoulder and not be too heavy. And LUG came through!

Lug sent me one of their mini-messenger bags, called the Moped Day Pack, in chocolate brown. This bag is available in many colours. It has enough pockets to satisfy any pocket-lover and keep the various items organized, is large enough to carry my wallet, keys, phone etc and a diaper or 2, plus a drink bottle (usually for one of the kids!). It's made from lightweight material, and has a water-repellent finish, so even though I've been using it for a couple of months, it looks brand-new still!

The outer flap closes with a magnetic, super-handy for getting in one-handed. Inside the outer flap is a mesh zippered pocket, so you can keep a few things in there that you need often, you can see right away what's there and easily get at it. The shoulder strap is adjustable (145 cm/57” at extended length), so it's easy to switch from the cross the shoulder mode to just one shoulder, and it should be good for people of all heights. Inside, there are soft lined mini cargo pockets for digital devices and 2 pen holder. In the outside zippered compartment, there's a few more small pockets, and a hidden zipped pocket, and on the back, there's a full-length slim pocket that's great for papers, my shopping list for example. One of my favourite features is the hidden exterior bottle holder, that closes up flat with magnetic flaps when not in use.

You'll notice I've mentioned zippers a lot - I am really pleased with this aspect of the LUG Moped. Whatever I put in the pockets stays in, so there's no searching around the bottom of the bag through a mixed up jumble.

Run, Twirl & Leap! - GIVEAWAY!

Dressing up is so fun! I remember how much fun we had playing "dress-up" as kids...it was definitely more fun to pretend you were a "mom" when you were dressed like one. ;) Or sometimes we got even more creative and dressed up like ballerina's or pirates! We didn't always have the 'perfect' dress-up clothes, but it was fun nonetheless. Now that I have 2 little girls of my own I'm starting to collect some "dress-up" items for them. Just in time for summer swimming!

When you take your baby or toddler out of the bath or pool, you can wrap them up in a hooded baby towel, and know that they're comfy and warm. But what do you do for your preschooler or bigger child? The answer is a hooded towel from Donna Hartle Creations! :)

Donna makes hooded towels in a pullover or a wrap style. You can choose your colour, trim fabric, and for a small additional cost, a monogram on either the front or the back. The towel wraps up a child nicely and they're cozy while they're drying off.

Jonathan's hooded towel is a pullover kind. There's a slit opening at the neck, which can be closed with a button and loop. He used this towel after swimming lessons, and now after the bath, and basically "streaks" around the house in his "cape" until he's dried off! :) The towel is soft and plush, and even after many washings is in nearly new state. Jonathan is most pleased with his "J" on the front - done in the same trim as the hood. And, because I mentioned that Jonathan is sensitive to embroidery that goes right through his shirt and rubs on his skin, Donna made his in appliqué so it wouldn't be so rough.
