I love buying bulk! It's one of my favorite ways to shop because I can get the amount of food I want and it's often cheaper as well! But there is one thing that I don't really like about buying bulk...and that's those thin plastic bags...you know the ones that you have to double bag because otherwise they might rip...and even then one little snag at the cashier and you've got a hole in your bag! Not only that, but plastic bags just aren't good for us or environment at all. Carebags recently came to our rescue and has given us a MUCH better option than those plastic bags. We tested and tried their Got it! reusable drawstring bags. You can get the Got it! bags in a set of three, as a single bag, or in a super cute Got it! Stuff Sack. I love the little stuff sack because it keeps all the bags together and is nice and compact so it easily will fit into your purse (or diaper bag :) )...or even your pocket! Each stuff sack comes with 3 Got it! reusable bags in it. We found that this is perfect for our family as we often get about 1-4 different items from the bulk or produce section each time we shop. Each bag is 9 x 11 inches and can hold up to 8 pounds!! That's a good amount, and I found that the bags also stretch as you fill them up, so you can fit more in them than it first looks like you can. There are some other really nice benefits to using Carebags reusable bags. Such as, not only can you BUY the product in the bag, but you can also wash and store it in these reusable bags! Did you know that if you wash your produce right in the bag the moisture left in the mesh bag helps to keep your food fresh. OR if they're lying around just waiting to be used, why not pack a lunch in a bag or use it for storing a bunch of your children's smaller toys in...or even pack toys in it for a long drive in the van!
If you're looking for some practical, useful, affordable and cute stocking stuffers I would definitely recommend the Got it! reusable bags! I know I would love to find some more of these in my stocking this year. :)
WIN IT!Carebags is giving away some FREE samples of their fabulous reusable bags to TEN WINNERS! In order to get one entry into the draw, leave us a negative impact plastic bag fact. Plastic is made from a non-newable resource. I would love to try these bags!
Plastic bags aren’t biodegradable. They actually go through a process called photodegradation—breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic particles that contaminate both soil and water, and end up entering the food chain when animals accidentally ingest them.

Plastic bags can last from anywhere between 50 - 1000 years in a landfill!
Plastic bags don't break down well.. they last a super long time in the land fill like a thousand years.. and often birds get tangled in them and die.
Countless plastic bags end up in our ocean and cause harm to our marine wildlife. It is estimated that 100,000 marine mammals die each year because of plastic litter in the North Pacific.

Plastic bags kill animals. About 100,000 animals such as dolphins, turtles whales, penguins are killed every year due to plastic bags. Many animals ingest plastic bags, mistaking them for food, and therefore die. And worse, the ingested plastic bag remains intact even after the death and decomposition of the animal.

Plastic bags can scuffocate children. Also, once they tear, they can't be reused. Cloth bags, last longer and they can also be repaired.

Every man, woman and child on our planet uses 83 plastic bags every year. That's one bag per person every four and half days. Of those 500 billion bags, 100 billion are consumed in the United States alone.
plastic bags take forever to break down & people dump them & the wind takes them everywhere
Most plastic bags take over 1000 yrs to break down.

So many plastic bags get thrown out in the garbage and they don't biodegrade so they just end up in the landfills and take way too many years to decompose to even think about it! It just makes me sick!
Thanks for hosting this giveaway :)
Tossed into waterways or washed down storm drains, the bags are the major source of human-related debris on the seabed, particularly near coastlines

Every year, Americans throw away some 100 billion plastic bags after they've been used to transport a prescription home from the drugstore or a quart of milk from the grocery store. It's equivalent to dumping nearly 12 million barrels of oil.

Every piece of plastic ever made still exists.
There are approximately 46,000 pieces of plastic floating in each square mile of the world’s oceans. In some places there's more plastic than plankton. Plastic bags are in the top 12 items of debris most often found in coastal cleanups.
Plastic bags kill birds and wildlife.
Plastic bag litter has a devastating effect on animals, birds and even marine life. They mistake them for food , they eat them and inevitably it kills them.
and plastic bags are made from polyethylene, which is made from petroleum , which is a non-renewable resource. not cool

Why would we waste our precious resources to make disposable anything?! Save money and the Earth:)
Here's a fact I found online: Plastic bags can be made into dozens of useful new products, such as building and construction products, low-maintenance fencing and decking, and new bags.
the kind you get at supermarkets—is made of polyethylene, a man-made polymer that microorganisms don't recognize as food so they do not appear to decompose like other products
Every piece of plastic ever made still exists.
I have always been amazed at the fact that it takes 1000 years for plastic bags to break down.

Plastic bags do not biodegrade; they photodegrade. Photodegradation involves a chemical reaction between plastic and sunlight which means that the plastic bags break down into smaller and smaller toxic bits contaminating soil and waterways and entering the food web when animals accidentally ingest them. The impacts of the enormous Pacific Gyro (made up of plastic bags and other plastic trash in the Pacific Ocean) with regards to photodegradation alone is quite alarming!
Thanks for the chance to win!

Plastic bags don't break down so they can be dangerous. Animals some times eat them so it can be deadly to them!
