Sleep in Peace ~ GIVEAWAY! (2 Winners!)

Sleep...such an important part of our lives as moms! And too often both mommy and child don't get enough of it. ;) There are of course, many reasons for a lack of sleep...everything from teething to being too cold...to just wanting Mommy in the room! One thing that we've used for Emily to help her stay warm and cozy in her crib is a wonderful sleep sac from Dodo-Sac. Neither of my kids have liked blankets and in order for them to stay warm I find I am constantly going in and covering them back up. But with our new Dodo-Sac the worry of my kids getting too cold is gone! We received a spring/summer Dodo-Sac which was PERFECT for the hot summer months. I found it to be just the right thickness...lightweight, yet thick enough to keep Emily warm when things cool down during the night. The Dodo-Sac also has a unique feature that other sleep sacs I've seen do not have. It has loose elastic around the waist. I loved this feature! It kept Emily from getting "tangled up" in the sleep sac, and kept it nice and secure. Even though the length of the sleep sac was a little long for her it stayed put perfectly. Now...enough about summer (though I sure wish it was here! ;) ). Dodo-Sac also creates some fabulous winter models. Made out of warm polar fleece they are cozy and cuddly...and just the right thing to keep your little ones warm through our cold winters.

Dodo-Sac's are fun, original and best of all - handmade! I have almost always found that handmade items are FAR better quality than what you can find in your local department stores. And the Dodo-Sac is no exception. In addition to this, there are so many benefits to using a Dodo-Sac! Check out a few of these:

* May reduce SIDS
* Baby/toddler stays covered all night
* Full cut for comfort and ease of movement, will not get twisted
* Elastic at the waist for a better, secure fit
* Keeps them warm even when wet
* Delays child from trying to climb out of the crib
* Easy care fabric - polar fleece or light stretch cotton

We are beyond pleased with our Dodo-Sac and would definitely recommend it. Great style, great design, and you know it's great when your kids love them as well!

WIN IT!
Dodo-Sac is giving away the pictured Dodo-Sacs to TWO of our readers (each winner will receive one of the sacs shown). The red pattern (left) is a winter model made from polar fleece. It is unisex - size infant (0-6 months). The second dodo-sac (right) is for a girl and is a spring/summer model - size 6-12 months. This one is made from a mesh printed cotton. In order to get one entry, head over to Dodo-Sac and let me know what your favorite pattern is AND let me know which of these 2 Dodo-Sac's you would be your first choice if you won.

Reindeer Baby Plush Toy ~ GIVEAWAY! (2 Winners!)

Babies, babies, babies...it seems that's been the topic of talk recently in our home, as well as the choice toy for Emily to play with. It's the sweetest thing to watch her take care of her babies...even the one that I gave a (horrible! haha) haircut to when I was young. This week Emily received another precious baby to add to her collection...the Reindeer Baby Plush Toy from Anne Geddes. It is simply adorable. And Emily thinks so too! I think my favorite part is how real the little face looks...something you'll find with all of Anne Geddes' fabulous products! It comes dressed in the perfect holiday clothes (red velour pants, boots and a cozy fur hood with little antlers), and is just the right size for a little girl to tuck under her arm and carry with her everywhere she goes. :) It also comes in a handy (and very strong!! Aka...perfect for toddlers :) ) plastic egg. Now the egg is a favorite for Tate...he likes to store his treasures in it. And every once in a while, the Reindeer Plush Baby is allowed to have a little nap in her egg as well. ;) I have a feeling that the Reindeer Plush Baby will be a favorite all year round!

Even though Christmas is just around the bend, it's never too late for a cute, cuddly and sweet Reindeer Plush Baby. You can purchase it over at the Anne Geddes Online Gift Shop, or if you happen to be holiday-ing, you can also check out the Anne Geddes store in Downtown Disney, Anaheim.

WIN IT!
Anne Geddes is giving away TWO Reindeer Baby Plush Toys! There will be one winner from the USA and one from Canada. In order to get one entry, head over to Anne Geddes Online Gift Shop and let us know which one of her adorable products caught your eye, as well as if you are a Canadian or US Resident.

Cookie Delight ~ GIVEAWAY (3 Winners!)

If your household is anything like mine, cookies are a YUMMMMMMY treat - for kids and adults alike! I make 99% of our cookies with my own hands...why? Because the store bought ones contain a lot of extras most times. Lots of sugar, and ingredients that really aren't that great for you - and especially not for the young children in our homes. Both Tate and Emily haven't had a lot of "sweets" at their ages yet. (and yes, people often look at me strangly when I don't give Tate or Emily a piece of cake or a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing) But you know, there'll be plenty of time for sweets later...I'd like to give my kids the best start possible! That's why we LOVED eating our newest discovery - tasty organic cookies from Sweetpea Baby Food. These are designed specifically for small children (but really are great for any age!) The best part is that they are not full of sugary ingredients, but instead are packed full of vitamins, fruits, fiber and more. Organic Cookies are the newest addition to Sweetpea's baby food line (which includes a bunch of fabulous organic frozen baby foods!), and once again they have thought of it all. Everything from packing each bite full of organic goodness, to excluding some common allergy-related ingredients from their cookies such as eggs. This is a big one for our home - both Tate and Emily reacted to eggs when they were younger so how nice to find a wholesome cookie that is made without that very ingredient!

WIN IT!
Sweetpea Baby Food is giving THREE bags (along with special discount coupons too!) of their Organic Cookies to THREE lucky winners (1 bag per winner)! What a great treat for your little ones - or even for yourself! :) In order to get one entry, head over to Sweetpea Baby Food and let us know which food item you'd love to try.

Introducing Julie!

We've completed our recent search for a new team member on Glimpse and are thrilled to welcome Julie!! Please read on to meet our newest Julie and her family...

All About Julie
julie.glimpse@gmail.com

Well, not exactly ALL! I've got to save some secrets for later! :) So, what can I tell you that you'd like to know? My family and I live in Winnipeg, and have for 3 years now. I was born and raised here, but went off travelling and working abroad after I finished university.
On one of my many jaunts around Europe, I met my husband Richard, who's Dutch. To make a long story short, we married and lived in the Netherlands for 6 ½ years before coming (back) to Canada.

Our 1st son Jonathan was born in the Netherlands in 2005 and our 2nd son Daniel was born in Canada in 2008. In my previous life (before kids seems like another life ago!) I worked as a primary school teacher. Now I'm a stay-at-home-mom – that's a big enough job in itself, I find! Both kids are “going concerns” – what one doesn't think of the other does, and it doesn't matter who thought it, they're both doing it! :)

We are practicing non-denominational Christians and are trying our best to live and raise our children according to the teachings of Jesus. I enjoy cooking and baking (but not washing up :)), playing with the kids, reading (not too much time for that lately!), sewing (less time for that, but I'm hoping to get back into it!), taking pictures of the kids, updating the blog for our Dutch family, music (listening and playing the piano and singing) and sitting on the couch drinking honeybush or rooibos tea with my husband after the kids have gone to bed – this has become our nightly ritual!

A Tall Giraffe ~ Giveaway!

You may remember the sales that A Tall Giraffe had going on a few weeks ago. I posted about them here on Glimpse. Well, I'd like to share a little more with you about this great new shop, and give you the opportunity to win something too!

A Tall Giraffe was started by Andrea, a Manitoba mom who wanted to share the love of cloth diapering. Everything in stock at A Tall Giraffe has been tried and tested by Andrea herself, so you know she stands behind her products!

I had the chance to try out a few products available from A Tall Giraffe, and I have to say that I'm impressed! Andrea sent me the Rockin' Green Laundry Detergent, as well at the Pail Powder. I've been interested in the Laundry Detergent for a while now, and was happy to get the chance to try it out. And the verdict: I really like it! The scents are really nice, yet gentle on mine and Bria's sensitive skin. I tried it on our regular laundry, as well as cloth diapers. It worked really well for both, leaving our clothes smelling fresh and clean.

The pail powder is also excellent! It is also a bit of a laundry booster, so if you use it in your wet bag or diaper pail, it does double duty! First freshening those stinky diapers, and then boosting the power of your detergent. I had never tried a pail powder before, so this was something new to me. I really love the idea of having a fresh smelling wet bag!

I also purchased a diaper sprayer from A Tall Giraffe, because it's something I've wanted to try for a long, long time! With a newborn on the way, I know I have lots of messy diapers to look forward to :) Might as well have fun cleaning them! We've only had it hooked up for a few days now, but I already love it. It's great for cleaning out the little potty, as well as getting the 'residue' off of Bria's diapers. Of course, you can also use it as a bidet, if you don't mind cold water on your bottom!

I've had nothing but incredible communication and excellent customer service from A Tall Giraffe. You won't be disappointed.

A Tall Giraffe is just getting started, so make sure to keep checking back for more products! Kissaluvs are now in stock, and GroBaby should be arriving mid-January!

PURCHASE IT!
A Tall Giraffe would like to offer our readers 10% off any purchase! Make sure to mention that you heard it here on Glimpse.

WIN IT!
A Tall Giraffe would also like to offer one lucky Glimpse reader a $20 Gift Certificate for anything in the shop!

To enter, please head on over to A Tall Giraffe, check out what is currently available, and let us know what else you would like to see available. Feedback is always welcome!

Piggy-tails & Paper ~ GIVEAWAY!

One thing that we can always use around here are cards. Birthday cards, Christmas cards, thank you cards...you name it, we'll most likely find someone to give it to! :) But...ya know? Sometimes the ones from Walmart are not that original. Sure there's some funny ones in there...but what if you want something a little different, something unique, something with that "extra special" touch? The only places that I've been able to find cards like this are from those who handmake their cards...like Piggy-Tails Stationary. We received an adorable set of Owl Thank You cards. Each card in this pack of 6 is printed with Epson Ultra Chrome inks on 80lb Brilliant White Cover Smooth paper. So in other words? They look fabulous. Envelopes are included as well, and the inside is blank so we can write our own personalized message (which I very much prefer over having a standard "Thanks for everything!" typed inside). Piggy-Tails Stationary carries a great variety of their unique and fun printed cards. They have some of the cutest birthday cards and invitation cards. And be sure to look at their stationary as well...perfect for writing a little note to family or friends. The products at Piggy-Tails are full of creativity and spunk. You're sure to find something for almost every occasion!

WIN IT!
Piggy-Tails Stationary is giving away a set of Owl Thank you cards to one of our lucky readers! These will surely come in handy for your after-Christmas-thank-you's! In order to get one entry, head over to Piggy-Tails and let me know what your favorite product is.

I Spy...a button, a SPIDER, a heart!

Even if a 1 1/2 year old is too small for the real "I Spy" game, she is NEVER to small for one of the simplest, and most creative toys around - an I Spy Bag from Inspired By Lou! I can just see the hours of entertainment that this bag will bring...especially when we need our kids to be quiet! Both Tate and Emily loved digging through the non-toxic poly pellets which are hiding a bunch of fun, exciting and creative treasures. Of course, their hands aren't actually IN the bag, they have to find the items and check them out through the clear vinyl window, so this toy is safe for any age! I Spy Bags are the perfect size to keep in your purse or diaper bag for those 'emergency' situations - you know, like a loooong line at the grocery store, a trip to the doctor, car trips, church, and more. They are versatile, and since they're easy to carry and are a quiet toy, an I Spy Bag can be used almost anywhere you'd like. Of course, Inspired By Lou has taken care to make sure that it is strong, durable and safe. Each seam is double sewn for extra strength and I can't see how we'd ever get the bag open (unless we had some scissors in hand! ;) ). To top it all off, on the bag of the I Spy Bag you'll find a list of the 'treasures' that are hiding in there, so once your child gets older it can become a game to find everything on the list. Inspired By Lou has a ton of great fabric designs for the I Spy Bags - for girls, boys or gender neutral.

Another one of the fantastic products that Inspired By Lou handmakes are belts. Now...I think most of you have seen from previous pictures that my kids are on the skinny side...especially Tate! Skinny as can be...yet he eats like a teenager some days! haha. :) So belts are always a welcome addition to our wardrobes! We received 2 adorable belts for our kids and they work wonderfully! Each belt is made with webbing and then the ribbon is sewn on to ensure both long wear and durability. The belts you'll see on Inspired By Lou use rectangle rings to keep it securely closed, however you can also special order belts with velcro. Both our belts have velcro instead of rectangle rings - makes it a lot easier for younger kids and trips to the bathroom! There really are some very cute and fun belt designs to pick from though, so be sure to check them out! :)

BUY IT!
Inspired By Lou is having a "Buy two Items, Get one HALF PRICE" promotion right now! She's got a great selection...everything from Lou's Legs (perfect for winter) to Crayon Roll Ups.

Simply Sublime ~ GIVEAWAY!

I'm always on the lookout for good quality shoes for my kids' feet...I'm definitely a fan of shoes that help their little feet grow well...shoes that are flexible, comfortable, and that will mold to fit their feet. And the great thing about shoes like this? They are made well. They last for more than one child, so a few extra $$$ at the beginning will most likely pay off for you in the end. Emily was blessed to receive these adorable Girls Chocolate Ankle Boots from Bebe Sublime. They're fabulous! I love the fact that it has the look of a shoe, yet is higher around the ankles for extra support. It is made from the softest leather and has a very flexible sole which is perfect for all the walking (and running!) she's doing now. There is even extra padding around the top of the ankle to keep the shoes from 'rubbing' on her ankles. And really...who could resist adorable brown boots with the cutest pink flowers on them?!? ;)

Bebe Sublime has shoes, slippers and boots for a variety of ages as well! Babies right to toddlers. You will also find a huge variety of accessories, cloth diapers, health and safety products and more! The owners of Bebe Sublime have taken care to look for the best of the best when choosing products to sell in their shop. The best price AND the best quality! And the greatest thing is that they encourage fair-trade, products that safe, products that are made by parents and products that are made right here in Canada!

A Parent is Born

You know, I've never thought about it this way before...but it's not only babies who are born...parents are too! New parents are born every day...experiencing their first week, month, year with their first baby...thrown into the world of parenting. I've been there and I've also had my share of advice - some great, some awful. Some of it worked, some of it didn't. Now I've been a mom for 3 years and have 2 beautiful children with a 3rd on the way (wow! Time goes by so fast!), and I feel that I've gained some confidence in the world of parenting...at least when it comes to children under 3! ;) Of course, their is always more to learn! Mom Central has teamed up with Pampers for the very important reason of helping out new and expecting Canadian parents! Pampers wants to create a Pampers Tips Sheet for these parents - and they want to fill it with YOUR best parenting tips! The best advice will be chosen and published for new parents to read and learn from. There are 2 topics that they are looking for advice on:

**How to Cope with Going Back To Work (Ways mom can prepare for D-day and ways to soothe the unease.)

AND

**Baby/Mommy sleep tips (Tips to help baby and mom get enough rest!)

Now...there's incentive too! Not only will your tip possibly be published but 25 randomly selected winners (who've entered a tip) will receive a $20 gift card, and one grand prize winner will receive $500! I've already entered my best tip, and since I have never gone back to work after having kids, my tip falls into the sleep category. Sigh...sleep...one of the things that we seem to have to "fight" with our kids the most about! My tip? Be consistent. Pick a style of sleep training that works for you and your family and stick with it! Babies and children will catch on fast...they're smart 'lil munchkins! But consistency is the key!

So, think you've got a great parenting tip? Head over to Mom Central and post it as an entry...who knows, you might even be walking away with $500 for sharing your simple tip. :) The closing date for entering your tips is December 10, 2009...so hurry!
