Mare ad Mare ~ GIVEAWAY!

There's a bunch of Canadian Girl apparel out there...and Canadian apparal in general, but let's just say that most of them are reallllly obvious. You know, like a red and white shirt with the Canadian Flag right in the middle. :) Now, there's nothing wrong with that, but sometimes a girl just feels like wearing something a little more...well, subtle. Mare ad mare is a fabulous Canadian company which has created a fresh, new line of t-shirts for Canadian girls (and wanna-be Canadian girls can wear them too! ;) ). The thing I love about these t-shirts is that they describe Canada in a fun and fashionable way. Mare ad mare has managed to boil Canada down into a few fun sayings and a few adorable shirts. For example...the winter one makes me laugh every time. It says "It's not ALWAYS this cold in Canada...but it is today!" haha. You'll know how true this is if you've ever lived in the Prairie provinces...or visited them during the winter months (which could be anytime from October to May - Or should I say June - yep, we had a mini snowstorm in JUNE this year!) Mare ad mare is latin for "sea to sea" and is also a part of the national motto of Canada...plus it describes one of the goals of this great company. They want to show the world (from sea to sea!) what a great country Canada is...and that THIS is what it's like to be a Canadian Girl.

Right now most of mare ad mare's shirts are only available in sizes for younger girls - but they are starting to add a line for us adult Canadian girls! I received the "Donnez-moi un petit basier" (Give me a little kiss) t-shirt...it's the first of their big girl shirts that has been printed and it's great! Modest, yet fitted and 100% Canadian and fun! Mare ad mare is a family run company - started by a Dad who's been blessed with three Canadian girls himself. I absolutely love the ideas and concepts (and the clothing too!!) of mare ad mare. Fun, comfy, Canadian, colorful, affordable, and perfect for the Canadian girls in your life!

WIN IT!
Mare ad mare would love to give TWO of our lucky readers a Canadian girls shirt of their own. One winner will receive the adult "Donnez-moi un petit basier" shirt and one winner will receive a kids shirt of their choice. Smiling Planets While You Eat ~ DISCOUNT!

What we eat our food off can be important! I mean, if we were using paper/styrofoam plates for every meal, you'd be a bit concerned right? :) I would be too! Tate was thrilled when he discovered that a new plate had arrived for him in the mail this past week. Raspberry Kids sent Tate a wonderful Smiling Plant White Peace Plate. Not only do the pictures on the plates portray a meaningful message, but they are also earth friendly. These plates are made from safe, sustainable, recycled and organic materials! Wow! I'd say this is the definitely the most earth friendly plate in our home right now. :) Not only that, but it is also free of any of that "bad stuff" (aka - BPA, Phthalate, PVC and Lead). Nope, you won't find any of that in Tate's new plate!

It's a great plate for him now that he's getting older too. We really like the fact that it doesn't have any 'dividers' in the middle...yet it still has a 1 inch lip around the plate to keep any food from escaping. Perfect for a toddler!

Raspberry Kids also has a huge selection of other uniquely fantastic products. And even though you are shopping online, they aim to personalize each order and ship it to you as fast as possible - I can definitely vouch for these facts! Both times that I've worked with Raspberry Kids the order has been personalized by a thoughtful note, and has arrived very quickly. You won't regret shopping at Raspberry Kids!

BUY IT!
Raspberry Kids would love to offer our readers a discount of 15% off your orders (excluding apparel). Just use the code: Glimpse15. Expires on September 27, 2009.

Raspberry Kids is also having a fabulous sale on their Apparel! 20% off everything!!! Check out some of their great apparel, and you might even find a great deal on some Back to School clothes!

Tot Spot & GIVEAWAY!

I was recently sent a neat little gadget to try from Goo-Goo Baby. It is called a Tot Spot - a hands-free child care light. It is an led light that lets you safely see at night. It is great for checking on the little ones, diaper changes, feedings, medications, reading books and so much. It's pivoting head allows you to aim the light in any direction and will clip on items up to one inch thick.
I have enjoyed trying it out. I have used it mostly during those late night feedings when I don't want a glaring room light on, or a lamp off in one corner.....or a night light that can only work when plugged into the wall. It can go with you anywhere. You can even clip it onto your shirt without the harsh lighting like a flashlight can give. The are very unique looking and available in an assortment of colors. Goo-Goo Baby is located in Calgary, Alberta and sells many innovative baby and children's products.

One lucky winner will one of their very own TotSpot child care light. EXTRA ENTRIES - Please leave an additional comment for each extra entry

Gro Baby, GROW!!!

There is definitely no shortage of cloth diaper options out there today. Search online and you'll probably come across dozens of styles, colors, fabrics, you name it! One of the newer diapers available in Canada is called Gro Baby. I was super excited to get the chance to try this intriguing new diaper.

Gro Baby is something that I don't think you can fully appreciate unless you are holding one in your hand. The outer fabric is incredibly soft, as are the velcro tabs, which is something I've never experienced before in a cloth diaper! I usually stay away from anything with velcro closures, just because it can be scratchy, catch on everything in the wash, and it doesn't seem to last as long. Well, Gro Baby seems to have found the solution to most of these problems, and I'm very impressed! The only issue left is that it still seems to catch on other items in the wash. Not a huge deal if you just wash all your diapers together.

The other thing that I absolutely love about Gro Baby is the organic cotton soaker pad. I am not a fan of microfiber at all, and I was very impressed with the quality and absorbency of the organic cotton. Bria was able to go leak free for her naps, though I wasn't brave enough to try nights in the Gro Baby. With a couple extra boosters, I'm sure it would have been fine though!

Gro Baby is also very trim fitting, especially for a one size diaper! This diaper should fit your baby from birth to potty training and is rated at 8-35 pounds. Of course, this is a general weight limit, meaning it may fit smaller or larger babies, depending on build. Bria has room to grow at 30 pounds, just to give you an idea!

Gro Baby is available in 3 fun and vibrant colors. The are all pretty much gender neutral, so these diapers can definitely be shared by more than one child with no color issues :) I know I'm definitely looking forward to using our Gro Baby when our new little one arrives next February!
Acorns and Oaks is the online retailer that sent me this diaper, and first of all, I need to say how great the customer service is! I can assure you that any questions you have will be answered quickly, in a very friendly manner.

Acorns and Oaks has an excellent selection of pocket diapers, as well as a few other styles of diapers. They offer a trial kit for those that are not sure of what type of diaper to try. This is a great way to give it a test drive and see what works best for your baby!

PURCHASE IT!
Acorns and Oaks would love to offer Glimpse readers 15% off any purchase! Wow!! Make sure to take advantage of this discount and order some Gro Baby diapers! You wont' be disappointed. Just use the code 'glimpse' in the voucher section during checkout. This code expires on September 8th, 2009.

Staying Trendy with ESPE ~ GIVEAWAY!!

Have you ever gone wallet shopping, only to find that all you see are fluorescent pink wallets that velcro shut? Or else they're all plain black leather - and way too expensive. ESPE is the solution to all your wallet woes! :) ESPE is a one of a kind Canadian company that creates and sells the most functionable and trendy wallets, coin purses, shoulder pouches, handbags and more. Their products are of the highest quality, are fun, funky, and even made from 100% cruelty-free and animal-friendly synthetic leather! ESPE sent a few of their amazing product for me to test out and enjoy. :) I love the Fave Short Wallet...it's the perfect size for all my bills, coins, ID's, etc. and is small enough to easily fit inside my cramped diaper bag! And then there's the XL Wallet. This one is wonderful as well. It has a little more room than the Short Wallet - in other words you can fit more "treasures" into this wallet! I love the fact that there is a zippered pouch for coins in the XL Wallet...that way all those pennies can't escape. :)

And check out this Brilliant Purple Coin Purse. Perfect for quick trips, and the perfect size to keep in a bigger purse or diaper bag! It will fit a small cell phone, ID, a couple of bills, a few coins...maybe even your shopping list! It has a handy hook on wristlet as well. Lastly, I must tell you about my new Mod Shoulder Pouch Black. I'm not much of a "purse person", but this shoulder pouch is more my style. :) It's small, has a detachable strap, and fits all the things I'd need for a short trip to town. It's perfect for a cell phone, i-phone or blackberry. There's a snap pouch and a zipper pouch (which includes built in card slots, and a detached coin wallet). ESPE really thought of it all with this little pouch! In fact, since we hardly ever use our cell phone...and well, I always use my camera I've been keeping my camera safe in the ESPE Shoulder Pouch...and it works great!

You can't tell me your not intrigued by all these great products, right? :) I love the practicality of their products...and you can't beat their trendiness either. ESPE has got you covered when it comes to purses, wallets, bags, etc. Head over and check out their new fall/winter collection!

WIN IT!
ESPE is giving a fabulous Seasons Brown Handbag to one of our readers! In order to get one entry, head over to ESPE, check out all their great designs and products, and let us know what your favorite is!

Tiny Tree Hugger ~ Giveaway!

So many parents are choosing to be more environmentally conscious these days, and I like to think that it is rubbing off on the next generation as well. I mean, if we are doing all we can to be more green, our children will grow up with those habits and they will just be the norm, right?

Tiny TreeHugger is one of those shops that helps you to keep your goals in mind. Offering items like cloth diapers, baby carriers, handmade bags, and eco-friendly laundry detergent, Tiny TreeHugger has what you need to make parenting a lot more green.

I had the chance to try out Kaley's Soap Nuts, which is an all natural laundry soap. Soap Nuts are essentially the fruit of Rittha Tree, and have been used for centuries in India and Nepal for washing clothing. You can read more about Soap Nuts here.

After using the Soap Nuts for my weekly laundry, on everything from towels to bedding to clothing, here's what I think. If you are looking for an Eco-friendly way to wash your laundry, this is it! Soap Nuts leave laundry smelling fresh, clean, and soft without the use of fabric softener. Of course, just like with any other natural laundry soap, it isn't a stain fighter, which means it will still be handy to have some good stain spray around for the tough stuff. Bria is particularly hard on clothes, and I found that I needed to pretreat.

Bria was sent this adorable t shrit as well! I really hope that Bria will grow up to be environmentally conscious, and I love it that she can wear this statement right now.

Tiny TreeHugger doesn't actually sell these right now, so you won't find them on their website. Keep an eye out for them in the future though, as Tiny TreeHugger is just getting started! Having been open just since June, they are already off to a good start.

Just a note for our international readers... Tiny TreeHugger is currently shipping only within Canada. They plan to expand in the future though, so keep them bookmarked and check back often!

WIN IT!

Super Cool Green Back 2 School ~ GIVEAWAY!

I can't believe it's that time of year again! I remember as a child loving it... getting to pick out my school supplies, carefully loading them into my backpack, and then trying to get some sleep before the big day! There was nothing quite like the smell of new pencils and notebooks, and the promise of meeting friends again. So many great memories.

One thing that I really hadn't even thought about was how to make sure that the school supplies we buy are green. Rowan isn't in school yet, but he will be next year, and I know I will want to make sure that the supplies we buy are not making a huge impact on the environment. I also want to make sure that they are toxin free, as we all know that kids put things in their mouths!

Green Cricket has put together some of the best, most Eco-friendly school supplies for you in two convenient packages! A super easy way to make sure you are getting quality products. You can choose from the Head of the Class Bundle, which includes everything your child will need for their pencil case (not including the pencil case), and the Everything but the Backpack Bundle, which includes, well, everything but the backpack! Both of these bundles will give you an excellent start on your back to school shopping.

Green Cricket has made a commitment to finding the greenest products possible, and being totally transparent about what ingredients are in the products, as well as how they are manufactured, and what they are packaged in. They have done their research so you don't have to! You can read all about their process here.

Green Cricket offers much more than just pencils and notebooks though! You can find everything from laundry detergent to hand bags! How about some organic tea or coffee? Recyclable razors? A toothbrush made from recycled plastic? You really should browse through the awesome products available from Green Cricket! You won't be disappointed.

WIN IT!!
I am so excited to be offering this amazing giveaway! One very lucky reader will be walking away with an "Everything but the Backpack" back to school bundle! This is an amazing prize and will give your child a good start on their back to school shopping.

Bonnets For Them All! ~ GIVEAWAY!

One thing that I've always been a fan of is hats that cover my children's ears. But really - they are VERY hard to find! In fact, my mom and I have even had to create a few of our own. But guess what? There's finally a great online boutique that makes bonnets and sunhats for both boys and girls. They've got all the features that a mom could want and they look great too! First of all, I know what you're thinking - Bonnets for boys?? :) They work great though, and you'd never say that Tate looked like a girl in his cool reversible camoflauge sunhat. And Emily...she's just as cute as a bug in her Pink Mod Flowers Sweatpea Bonnet! Sleek, stylish and best of all, these bonnets protect my kids from the sun and wind. Since these bonnets cover the ears and the entire head they would be great for fall and winter as well! The bonnets have an adjustable snap under the chin which is much nicer than having to tie a ribbon under the chin of a squirmy toddler! ChicPeek's sunhats come in a larger selection of sizes too - right up to 4 yrs! I did find that the sizes I ordered for both my children were a bit on the big side...but then again, both my kids are very thin and petite. However, let me just say that I'd much rather order something and have it be a bit too big than a bit too small! :)

ChicPeek also has a few other styles of bonnets and sunhats for girls. Like the Sweetheart Bonnet which has all the same great features as the Sweatpea Bonnet, but it also allows those little piggytails to stick out! Or if you're a fan of the classic bonnet there are a few really sweet styles available in these as well.

WIN IT!

Belly Balm

I don't know about you, but I am pretty skeptical when it comes to any comments saying "reduces/repairs stretch marks/gets rid of". I mean, they happen to a lot of us moms, and other than fading over time, you will always have them.....but that didn't stop me from purchacing a stick of belly balm from The Nesting Company.

I hardly got any stretch marks when I was pregnant with Jacob, but this last pregnancy - I got a LOT. To the right, there is my belly a very few short months ago. The photo hasn't been edited in any way. Just me - and my stretch marks lol.

I found over time they got to be at times painful and itchy. It was thich and the intense moistureizers that came in the stretch mark cream really helped. I don't know if it has helped take away my stretch marks completely but they have shrunk and faded. I was glad to try this Canadian product from The Nesting Company - a small shop in Nova Scotia. With all natural ingredients.

Check out all the things The Nesting Company has to offer. They have a huge assortment of baby things as well as a whole maternity line of clothing. I will do a review in the future about their clothing, because I couldn't help purchacing a maternity dress as well. By then their online shop will be operational as well!

No-Cry Giveaway Galore!

Do you ever get frustrated with your children, trying to get them to take a nap, fall asleep at night, or just STAY asleep at night? Or maybe potty training or discipline issues have got you down. Then you might just benefit from the No-Cry Solution series. Elizabeth Pantley has written some amazing books with great advice.

I personally own the No-Cry Nap Solution, and it's full of practical, useful information. You can read my full review here, but for now I just want to leave you with a short quote from the No-Cry Nap Solution:

"Studies show that children who nap daily get sick less often, grow taller, and are less likely to be obese when they grow up. Naps enhance attention span and brain development. Naps can also help make up for any shortage in nighttime sleep. Even a one hour shortage in overall sleep hours can have a negative effect on a child – compromising alertness and brain function, and increasing fussiness and fatigue."
That in itself is reason enough for me to make sure my kids get a good nap!

Now for the exciting part... Elizabeth Pantley is giving away two FULL SETS of her No-Cry books! You could be a lucky winner, but you have to follow these instructions to be entered. This contest is not being run through Glimpse, so you need not leave a comment here. I just wanted to make sure that our readers had a chance to enter! So here are the rules:

HOW TO ENTER:

Choose a line or two, or a complete excerpt from any of my books. (Lots of excerpts on my website - take what you want!)

Quote it on your blog, website, or newsletter page.

~ Include the title and author, PLEASE. ~

Send me the link to: elizabeth@pantley.com

That’s all ~ you’re entered!

Banish Boring Boyswear! ~ $50 GIVEAWAY!

When you go shopping for your boy...what do you find? Here's what I usually find - A few racks or shelves of boys stuff, and AISLES of girl stuff! I mean really, I tried to get some shoes for my son when he was younger and there were probably 10 or more shelves of cute 'lil girl shoes, but 2 measly shelves of plain boys shoes. Who says boys don't like to have a little style too??? That's why I was delighted to discover a fun, funky and one-of-a-kind shop that caters to boys. Their clothes are unique, high-quality, and come packed full of fashion and personality. Tate received three fabulous products from TykeThreads. Check out his handmade two-tone version of a classic bowling shirt. It's even made right here in Canada! And the jeans. You gotta love those too. These grey greaser jeans are funky, adorable and SUPER practical too! You can turn the cuff up or you can roll it right down - 2 styles in one! Plus these jeans will fit for more than a month or 2 with the cuff option! And you know what I love about grey? It matches with everything! I always thought black and white were the only colors that matched with anything, but nope...grey has the matching magic too. And the Amaze long-sleeved tee. It's perfect for a cool summer day, or even for fall. And not does this tee look fun...it is fun! A maze on a shirt is the perfect way to entertain that preschooler while you're waiting in a looong check-out line! ;)

This is just a taste! TykeThreads is FILLED with Boyswear that is anything but boring. Oh, and for the ones who've got girls...well, TykeThreads didn't forget about you! They've got a section with some great products for girls too. The owners have searched high and low and are giving you the best of the best - all in one great Canadian shop!

Soccer - Without all the Running!

I have to admit...I'm just not a huge fan of sports. I can usually stand watching them...but playing them? Well, that's just not my thing. Unless I can play the sport while I'm sitting down! And there's no chance of a ball hitting me in the face...or of anybody tackling me! haha. :) Starlit Citadel sent us another fabulous board game called Soccer Tactics World. Now this is my kind of soccer. ha! I definitely enjoyed this board game and it was fun, strategic and fairly easy to learn how to play. This game is a 2 player game, so it's meant for a small crowd...perfect for my husband and I. Basically you have eleven players per team, and you are kept busy dribbling, passing, capturing the ball, and trying to gain control of the ball. You better be careful though because you can even receive a red or yellow card in Soccer Tactics World! I love that it follows the actual game of soccer so closely and what a better way for two non-sports fans to enjoy playing a sport. ;)

Starlit Citadel has a HUGE variety of other games as well. They're the largest games store in Canada and you won't be disappointed with their great selection!

Sparkly Clean with Sapadilla

Washing dishes, cleaning countertops, scrubbing bath tubs. Sounds like the life, hey? Well, I figure I might as well try to enjoy myself while doing these things. And now that I've found Sapadilla, I think I'm one step closer to having a blast while cleaning!

Sapadilla is Canadian made and 100% natural and eco friendly. You can actually read all of the ingredients on the label, and you won't be wondering what in the world you are cleaning your house with.

I had the chance to try all three of their awesome products; the Dish Soap, Countertop Cleaner, and All Purpose Cleaner. I think these are definitely products that I want to use in my home on a regular basis.

First of all, let's talk dish soap. Having very sensitive skin, I've always stayed away from the harsher soaps. So most of the time, I was stuck with unscented. And how fun is it to wash dishes with unscented soap? Not so cool. I'm in love with the Rosemary and Peppermint scent, especially knowing that it all comes from essential oils, and not harmful fragrance oils. I'm not kidding you, the scent is what I would call refreshing and invigorating! The only complaint I might possibly have is that this is not a super concentrated formula, so you need to use more than usual. Not really a big deal, just something I noticed.

I think my countertops are cleaner than they've ever been before! I absolutely love the Grapefruit and Bergamot Countertop Cleaner! The citrusy smell makes me smile every time I use it, and I love the fact that I'm not putting harmful chemicals on my countertop.

And last of all, the All Purpose Cleaner. Again, love the scent! The only caution I have with this cleaner is that it is super sudsy! So you only need a tiny bit to get the job done. Not a bad thing at all! And instead of that chemical scent that you get with regular cleaners (which always give me a horrible headache) you are left with a fresh, clean, happy smell.

All of Sapadilla's cleaners are available from one of my favorite Canadian shops, Pure Anada. Pure Anada always offers free shipping on orders over $50, so take advantage and make your order!!

Schnookums For Your Princess ~ GIVEAWAY!

Oh the cuteness of my little girl with a bow in her hair. But not just ANY bow...the sweetest little bows we've ever owned! Schnookums Bowtique sent Emily some of their adorable bows and clips, and out of all the bows and clips I've tried, these are my favorite. Here's what I love about them - they stay put in Emily's hair and they are SUPER cute and perfect for my little princess. Just ask my hubby...I ooohhed and ahhhed over these bows for many days after when they arrived in the mail! haha. :) My favorite for Emily's hair right now is the Itsie Bow. It's a tiny little bow that's just right for the smallest of girls. The bow would even work great on a newborn! Emily is quite petite for her age so it's just perfect in her little head of hair. We also tried out a few of the infant snappies that Schnookums Bowtique offers. I LOVE the ribbons she uses on these - simple but sweet and many of them would match with practically any outfit. Both the Itsie Bows and the Infant Snappies have a no-slip grip strip attached (which works great by the way!) The thing I like about the infant snappies is that they are SO simple. Yet, they still add a little something special. Schnookums Bowtique also has some very cute flower snappies that you just gotta take a peek at! Finally we also tried a few Mini Bows. I LOVE these as well. They don't have the no-slip attached to them but they still stayed in Emily's hair really well. These bows are a bit larger but they still work well with Emily (she's 1 yr. old), and I'm definitely looking forward to using them with her for many years yet! I can just picture how cute the Mini Bows will look clipped into her pigtails.

Schnookums Bowtique also has some large clippes and Snappies for older girls or younger girls who've been blessed with a head of hair right from the start. :) Honestly, if you have a little girl in your life, Schookums Bowtique would be the first place I'd recommend. Adorable, trendy, sweet, high quality, affordable, unique and fun...you can't beat that!
