Go Green with Ecomom! ~ CLOTH NAPKIN GIVEAWAY!

I'm all about reusing and recycling. Even the little things matter! Not only is it saving our earth, but it's saving me TONS of money over the long run. If you ask me, that's a great deal! :) I also firmly believe that products that are made of cloth are MUCH better and healthier for us than all these disposable items that are so "easy" to buy and use. In fact, I don't find that using cloth is any harder than going out and buying a pack of disposable items. And I'm talking about all sorts of cloth items here...cloth diapers, cloth pads, cloth napkins, etc. Anything cloth will get a thumbs up from me! And this definitely includes my cloth pads from Ecomum. They are sewn by the owner herself and are made out of velvety soft flannel. I'm sure you'll notice that they have a bit of a different design with no rounded corners at the top and bottom. This pattern is an older pattern, and the benefit is that it saves fabric! I found them to be comfortable, and the simple design is great. The inserts for the pads were a bit hard to position just right inside, but other than that they worked fabulously!

Ecomum carries so much more than cloth pads though! They have cloth diapers, adorable kids clothes, and even hemp hoodies for the guy in your life!

WIN IT! Ecomum is giving one of YOU a set of Hemp Cloth Napkins! These cloth napkins are simple, elegant and soooo easy to care for! In order to get one entry, head over to Ecomum and let us know what your favorite product is.

Get Your Woolies from Little Green Viking!

You may or may not have heard of using wool for a diaper cover before. I know the first time I heard of this, I was like WHAT?? It just sounded really strange. So, I decided to give it a try! I had heard so many moms raving about their babies woolies, now it was my turn to check it out.

One of the places that I bought wool from was Little Green Viking. And a few months ago, I was asked to be a tester for an brand new style! After using a pattern available through cottage licensing, The woman behind it all, Sigrid, decided to make her own pattern.

I have to say, she did a fabulous job! I tested out a recycled wool soaker, made from a pretty old sweater. We used it both during the day and over night. I have to confess, we mostly use disposables over night now, since my kids pee a river in their sleep. But you know what? Disposables leek. And that sucks. So I put the soaker over top of the disposable for night to keep their beds dry.

Wool has great properties. It doesn't need to be washed after each use, just air dry, and use again! It helps your child's bottom to get some air, and not keep all that moisture sealed in. Very useful in preventing diaper rash!

The cut of the Little Green Viking soaker is nice and full over the bum, and comes down the hips slightly, to give great coverage over any diaper. At this point, Bria is just barely still fitting into the medium, at 2 years old. I think she could probably use a little more length in the rise, but we can still make it work. The recycled wool is slightly stretchy, and interlock is really soft and stretchy! I have purchased interlock from Little Green Viking in the past, and it's excellent quality.

So if you're hesitating because you're not sure, I say, go for it! Give wool a try! You can also find Little Green Viking at dot CA, an all Canadian Hyena Cart Congo!

Life Without Plastic ~ GIVEAWAY!

Did you know that plastic is causing tons of environmental problems for our earth? Or that it harbours serious health risks for those who are the most vulnerable amoung us...our children? Although plastic has a lot of great qualities and seemingly works well, the fact that it is used SO much is beginning to become a problem for our health and our earth. I was delighted to discover a great Canadian website called Life Without Plastic. Their site is packed full of information, helpful hints, and great alternatives. They also have a huge line of non-plastic products you can buy. Who knew there were so many great alternatives available? I love seeing the different options and dreaming about how I can get rid of more of the plastic items in my home. Life Without Plastic got us started though and sent a Stainless Steel Water/Juice Jug. And I must say, we are definitely enjoying our new jug. It holds 2 Litres, looks sleek, modern and elegant, and is MUCH safer than the plastic jug I used to use! One of my other features about our new Stainless Steel Jug is that it is unbreakable...no cracking, no falling apart - this thing is definitely built to stand the test of time.

Life Without Plastic has safer alternatives for almost anything in your kitchen! They have the cutest little bowls and dishes for kids. They've got stainless steel food containers, lunch kits, cups, and they even carry some more unique items like the bamboo utensils. Plus there's always new products being added. :) I found the selection and the quality of the products at Life Without Plastic to be absolutely wonderful.

WIN IT! Life Without Plastic is giving away TWO of their fabulous products to TWO of our readers! The two pirzes include a 12 cm airtight-watertight food storage container OR a 14 cm round food storage container with fold-out handle. In order to get one entry, head over to Life Without Plastic and tell us about one thing you loved or learned.

10 Days In Asia

Even though my husuband and I are busy weeding and harvesting the garden (my job!), doing renovations, working on a Master's Degree (my hubby's job!), raising 2 kids, and more, we still find time to sit down and play board games together at least once a week. :) It's a great way to relax for a few minutes and enjoy each other's company. This week we played a new game from Starlit Citadel - 10 Days In Asia. This game definitely will give you a lesson in geography! haha. :) Basically you have 10 Days in Asia to make it around the Far East. The goal? To plan and finish your trip before the other players. It's a lot of fun and easy too! The hardest part was searching for all the little itty bitty countries that I've never heard of. ;) You have various modes of transportation...airplanes, railroads, or you can even walk from one country to another. And the first player to organize their trip wins.

I also enjoyed the fact that this game is not very long - about 20 mins (or maybe 30 if you're like us and are searching for the countries!). But definitely a game that is short enough to play even when you have a "million" other things to do.

PURCHASE IT!
Starlit Citadel also has a bunch of other games in this series, like 10 Days in the USA. All which I'm sure are equally as fun and challenging! Check out their HUGE selection of other board games and card games as well. :)

Mom & Baby Works ~ GIVEAWAY!

Sleep, precious sleep! Why is it that us moms can never seem to catch up or get quite enough of this coveted thing called sleep? :) Well, we recently received an adorable Morris Monkey Grobag Sleeping Bag from Mom & Baby Works. Sleeping bags are PERFECT for babies and toddlers alike. There are so many benifits to using a sleeping bag and we are loving every aspect of this bright and fun Monkey Sleeping Bag - perfect to keep our little monkeys from "jumping on the bed" instead of sleeping! ;) A few of my favorite features of the Grobag Sleeping Bag are:

~ It is made completely of 100% cotton
~ It has both shoulder snaps and a zipper (which is on the side instead of in the middle...LOVE this feature!)
~ It is easy to keep clean and is soft, comfy and 1000% cute.

My only gripe? I just wish they had a size that was for a smaller age gap than the 18 - 36 months size. Perhaps an 18-24 month size? I found that this size was quite big on my daughter - but on the bright side it fits my tall (almost) 3 year old son VERY well!

Mom & Baby Works carries a whole line of fabulous Grobag products. And really...every Grobag item that I've tried or seen is definitely high quality and worth getting. The Grobag Egg digital room thermometer is no exception! We didn't actually test one of these out, but it certainly looks and sounds wonderful. The glowing grobag egg changes colour to let parents know at a glance whether the temperature of a room is too low, too high or just right, and it even works well as a comforting night light. Is that cool or what?!

Both the Grobag Egg and the Grobag Sleeping Bag are great products. They both help to prevent the risk of SIDS and, in my opinion, would be worth purchasing for your little ones. And besides all these Grobag products?? Mom & Baby Works also carries a HUGE assortment of other quality, unique, practical, and fun products. It is one of my favorite Canadian online shops that I've come across so far!

WIN IT!
Mom & Baby Works is giving one of YOU your very own Grobag Sleeping Bag and Grobag Egg!! In order to get one entry, head over to Mom & Baby Works and let us know what caught your eye.

Sling 'n Swim With SewFunky!

It's no secret that we love babywearing in our home. But there is one place that I've never worn my babies...and that's in water! Believe me...I've dreamt of it. I've thought of how wonderful it would be to be able to put Emily in a sling at the beach or pool instead of carrying her. Or about how great it would be to have a Mesh Sling to use with Emily in the shower when we are camping, away from home, etc. And this year all my 'water babywearing dreams' came true! ;) SewFunky sent us a Mesh Sling to use during all our outdoor and water adventures...and it's even better than I dreamed it would be. Even though the sling is made with two layers of sports mesh fabric, is lightweight and perfect for hot summer weather. It has a nice, deep pouch as well, which I LOVE. It keeps Emily tucked in nice and secure and is very easy to adjust. My Mesh Sling from SewFunky is definitely on my list of "must-haves" for a babywearing Mama. If you're a fan of camping, or of going to the beach or pool a mesh sling will make your job 1000 times easier. I love having my baby girl right next to me, safe and secure, and yet I still have my hands free to help my 3 year old if I need to.

SewFunky has a HUGE selection of other fantastic slings, pouches and a few other baby carriers as well. The fabrics are unique and hip. So whether you are a new mom, a mom of many, a grandma or even a babysitter, I'd be the first one to recommend a baby carrier from SewFunky! :)

PURCHASE IT!!
SewFunky is giving all our readers FREE SHIPPING on any purchase! Use the coupon code: "Glimpse" in order to receive your discount. But hurry...offer expires on July 25 - in just ONE week.

Tuscan Farm Gardens ~ GIVEAWAY!

There are three things that I look for when buying bath and body products, and the big three are none other than...products that are organic, natural and handmade. Tuscan Farm Gardens carries products that meet these standards to a "T". Not only that, but their products are made with delicious natural scents and do their job amazingly well too! For example, check out their organic, handcrafted, Olive Oil Soaps. They have gentle scents from pure essential oils and are nourishing and moisturizing for the whole family. I'm definitely enjoying our bar of Olive Oil Soap! Another product of theirs that I absolutely am loving is the Gardeners hand Lotion. I have been weeding in the garden every day possible. And let me tell you...that creates VERY dry, scaly and cracked fingers and hands. I've tried all sorts of lotions to try to remedy this but NONE of them even compare to the Gardeners Hand Lotion. I rub it into my hands once and it soothes and moisturizes my skin so well that within minutes my overworked skin is feeling fresh and healthy again. Plus, it smells great too! :)

Tuscan Farm Gardens also has a great product line for children. We've been using the Lavender and Calendula Body Lotion. It is perfect for the sensitive skin of babies and kids (or even adults!) and is filled with the goodness of organic calendula, cold-press olive oil and more.

The last item we tried from Tuscan Farm Gardens was the organic Lavender Body Wash. This is one of their newest products and it is just as great as the ones that have tested and tried. It is for all skin types, contains no harmful chemicals and is even made with plant based preservatives. Once again, it is very moisturizing, which is perfect for me and my dry skin!

WIN IT!
Tuscan Farm Gardens would love to give one of our readers some products of their own! There will be THREE winners, and the prizes include:

1 x 2 bar soap pack that will include lavender and lemongrass.

1 x lemongrass lotion AND a natural mosquito repellant to boot.

1 x lavender lotion

In order to get one entry, check out Tuscan Farm Gardens and let us know what you'd like to try.

Chocolate Lovebirds ~ GIVEAWAY!

Seeing as we had a baby boy first, it seemed that Emily might be destined to wear black and blue shoes and sandals for a looong while. That is until Jack and Lily sent her a precious, girly pair of shoes. Jack and Lily carries a HUGE selection of baby shoes and baby slip-ons that are handcrafted using premium grade leathers and skid resistant suede or TPR soles which are perfect for developing those little feet!

Emily received the Chocolate Lovebirds shoe from Jack and Lily's MY shoes section. These shoes are delicate, flexible, and the pink lovebirds stitched on the front makes them unique and perfect for any little girl. Unfortunately, I do have one major disappointment that arose when these cute little shoes arrived. I was looking forward to having a pair of shoes with a TPR (flexible rubber) sole...after all, this is what is advertised on the website. When I received the shoes they had only a very thin suede sole - basically, I'd say that I would only use them indoors...as a slipper. Although they are soft, and are as lightweight as can be, in my opinion, they are just not practical for us to use as an outdoor shoe. I also prefer the flexible rubber sole for Emily since she seems to be able to balance and walk a lot better with something a bit firmer on the bottom of her shoe. So, although I love the looks of these shoes, I am very disappointed that the shoes did not have the features the Jack and Lily claims that it has. (Note: I did discuss this with the company, and they mentioned that they have switched certain sizes over to the style I have...however, it is not advertised at all on their website and therefore this would explain my extreme disappointment with receiving a pair of shoes that did not meet my expectations).

Jack and Lily also has a great selection of slip-ons which are made from a softer leather and feature a suede sole.

WIN IT!
Jack and Lily is giving one of our lucky readers their own pair of Jack and Lily shoes. The winner can choose the shoes of their choice! In order to get one entry, head over to Jack and Lily and let me know what pair you'd choose if you won.

Pink Panda Fabrics ~ Giveaway!!

The world of fabric is one that I like to delve into once in a while. I love browsing through the newest designer favorites, dreaming about what I could make with them.

Carcassonne ~ The Castle

After a day of running after kids, cooking meals, doing laundry and all those other things that "must" be done :), I find that it is a treat to sit down with my hubby and play a game together. It's relaxing, it's a great way to enjoy each other's company and it even gets my brain thinking about something beyond "I bet she needs her diaper changed again!" haha. Starlit Citadel sent us a fantastic 2 player game called Carcassonne the Castle. Basically you use strategy and a bit of luck to win the game and to be called the ruler of the city of Carcassonne. One of the bonuses that I found was that this is a shorter game. So you don't need an entire free evening to play this one...unless you want to play it over and over and over that is! :) It's quick, easy to learn, and challenging too. We definitely have enjoyed playing Carcassonne the Castle together. And if you think this sounds interesting, there's actually a whole series of Carcassonne games and expansion packs...enough to satisfy your Carcassonne cravings for a loooong time! :)

Starlit Citadel is packed to the brim with more games that you knew existed! They've got everything from kids games to classic games to adventure games and more.

Bamboobino Bathtime ~ GIVEAWAY!

One of my favorite fabrics around is bamboo. It is heavenly. Softer than a baby kitten and has all the qualities that a person could want. Recently Tate was blessed with a hooded bamboo kimono from Bamboobino. It is absolutely perfect for bathtimes, visits to the pool, or trips to the beach. And Tate adores his new kimono bath robe as well. My favorite part about the kimono (besides the fabric and cute style!) is that it snaps on. So, no ties...just snaps. And it stays on my active little boy too. :) Each hooded Kimono also comes with a My Own Bath Mitt which is the perfect size for a toddler to use to help bath their baby sister or brother. It's a great way to include them and allow them to help out and learn as well.

Bamboobino offers a TON of unique bamboo products. They have all sorts of clothing and accessories for newborns, toddlers and even moms. Sooo, why is bamboo so wonderful? Check out a few of my favorite reasons:

•It's more absorbent than cotton.
•It is naturally anti-bacterial.
•It's hypoallergenic - suitable for a newborn's sensitive skin.
•Its cashmere-like softness is unlike any other fabric.
•It grows easily without pesticides or fertilizers.
•It takes in five times the volume of greenhouse gasses as an equivalent stand of timber trees and releases 35% more oxygen.
•It needs no replanting.

Bamboo really is an amazing fabric (and don't worry, they don't use the same bamboo that the panda bears eat...so they're still got their food source! :) ). The more I learn about bamboo, the more I like it, and Bamboobino not only has some great information about bamboo on their site, but they carry bamboo products that are sure to keep anybody comfortable, snuggled, warm, and stylish!

WIN IT!
Bamboobino would LOVE to give one of you a hooded kimono of your very own! In order to get one entry, head over to Bamboobino and let me know which product caught your eye.

Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice ~ GIVEAWAY!

Her hair is growing...it even hangs in her eyes now. And a haircut isn't going to solve this problem either! Instead we've got a cuter, more stylish, more girly, more fun solution - some grippy clippy hair clips from Sugar and Spice Bows! These clippy's are unlike any that I have used with Emily before, and we love them. My favorite right now is the Grippy Clippy Mini hair clip. It's got just the right amount of 'dainty and sweet' in it for a little girl like Emily. It is a 1 1/4" mini alligator hair clip and is fully lined with ribbon and Sugar and Spice's signature no-slip grip strip! I definitely love the grip strip 1000 times more than the veclro inside the clip. Vecro is just so "sticky" and can damage your hair...so the grip strip is fabulous. It keeps the clip in place, yet the clip is still easy to remove and does no damage to your baby's fine hair. Even Dad can manage to use one of these clips! ;)

Sugar and Spice Bows also has a larger sized Grippy Clippy which is perfect for girls with more hair. They are made exactly the same way as the mini clippy...just a bit bigger...but every bit as gorgeous! :)

Sugar and Spice Bows offers more than just clips though. They have a great selection of handcrafted hair bows, hats, headbands, and more. All of which are made with quality products and are beyond sweet.
