Sweet Wraps for a Cure!

I am so excited to be able to bring you a product with a cause! I recently found Sweet Words on Etsy, and was taken by the Sweet Twirly Girly Skirts. When I had a chance to chat with Melissa, the creator, she mentioned that she had a new project on the go, something that would make a difference in the lives of children.

Sweet Wraps are adorable little head wraps for little kids. They are very simple to tie on and they stay on! Bria was sent one with little fairies on it, and it is honestly the only hat she will keep on her head! She loves it, and tries to put it on herself whenever she finds it. I am very happy with how the light-weight cotton keeps her head covered, but not too hot. Having red heads has definitely posed a challenge to me to keep their heads covered!

But the cause is also very close to my heart. Last October, shortly after Glimpse was launched, my little girl had to have kidney surgery at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. We knew she would be staying in the hospital for at least 3 or 4 nights, and I was going to stay with her. The option of staying at Ronald McDonald House was given to me, and though I decided that I wanted to be right in the room with Bria, it was really a relief to have been offered the chance to stay at Ronald McDonald House. It is a home away from home for the families of children suffering from some of the worst health issues, including cancer.

So how can you make a difference? For every two Sweet Wraps that are purchased from Sweet Words, one will be donated to a child at Ronald McDonald House in Winnipeg! What a great way to make a child smile! Whether they need the extra coverage while their hair is falling out from chemo, or they just need to feel special, I believe that Sweet Wraps are a very practical and unique way to touch the life of a child.

Sweet Wraps are only $4.95! Let's see how many orders we can get in to make a child smile! Make sure to check out the other adorable creations at Sweet Words as well.

For Food, For Night, For Mom ~ GIVEAWAY!!

We recently received one of the most simple but practical products from BabyGrins. I mean really...there are not too many things that can be used anywhere...anytime, and for, well...pretty much anything! But the Tote Bag sure fits this bill. Goober Baby's Tote Bag is perfect for organizing fanatics like me. haha! I can't help just feels so nice to have everything organized and in it's proper spot. And the Tote Bag has indeed been very handy for us. Right now we're using it in our diaper bag to store all the 'little stuff', like the bandaids, diaper cream, lotion, sunscreen, teething tablets, etc. I LOVE it. No more digging around trying to find the bandaids which I thought were in a pocket, but ended up being at the very bottom of the bag along with a bunch of other stuff. No more emptying out the ENTIRE bag just to find one little thing. This makes it incredibly more organized. Even my 2 1/2 year old son can now go find the diaper cream in the bag and bring it to me within seconds. :) The Tote Bag also has a clear front packet which lets you see what's in there and grab it out easily. It's easy to clean and is even cute!! The Tote Bag can be used for so much more than a diaper bag organizer. It can be used for lunch, for travelling, for an overnight bag, for mom's makeup & accessories, for name it! :)

BabyGrins has a great selection of other products for the whole family too! You'll find baby carriers, Ragg Quilts, Travel Accessories, Stuff for Dad, and LOADS more. Head over and check out this great Canadian shop! :)

BabyGrins would LOVE to give one of our readers their own Tote Bag in an in stock print of their choice. In order to receive one entry, head over to BabyGrins and let us know what you loved in their shop.

Express!ons Boutique

A while back I found out that a former classmate of mine from high school had starting making all kinds of great things for her daughter, and had started to sell to friends and family as well. I thought it was awesome that she was making these things, and asked her if she had any sort of website that people could order from.

Express!ons Boutique is a great place to find hair clips and comfy headbands for your daughter, nursing covers, children's belts, and the cutest sock monkeys! With a great selection of ribbons and fabrics to choose from, there is definitely something there for everyone. I had a really hard time picking which ribbons I wanted!

We got some adorable hair clips for Bria, as well as a comfy head band. The clips stay in really well, and we love the bright colors! We haven't used the headband as much, because Bria tends to pull it out of her hair, but I must say that it also fits me! I have worn it on occasion, and hopefully Bria will learn to leave it in too.

I really love that the prices are very reasonable, and that she is so close by. Hopefully will be purchasing more from Express!ons Boutique in the future.

If you are interested in ordering something from Express!ons Boutique, and would need it to be shipped, just contact Amanda through the comments on her blog, and she will be happy to give you a quote with shipping. If you are local, just arrange a time to pick it up!

A Vonderful Goot Game!

Fast thinking, quick acting...and multi tasking at it's best!! That is how I'd describe the card game, Dutch Blitz, which we received from a HUGE all Canadian games store - Starlit Citadel. You better not try to play this game when you're sleepy! haha. It's incredibly fast paced and in my opinion is a BLAST! And the best part is that you don't have to have a lot of strategic brain power...just some very speedy brain power! My hubby wasn't the biggest fan of this game, but every other female that I've played it with has LOVED it! Hmmm...maybe it's because they "say" guys can't multi-task as much as ladies? haha...perhaps! Whether that is true or not, I think Dutch Blitz is loved more by the female's fast, it's fun, you get to do more than one thing at once and basically the only skills you really need are counting, being able to identify colors, and of course, being able to multi-task. ;) I'm a huge fan of Dutch Blitz and could play it every night - but in order to do that I guess I'll have to wait until my 1 year old daughter gets old enough to play with me. ;)

Starlit Citadel has a TON (and I mean a ton!) of other fabulous games - loads of award winning games, strategic games, games for kids, games for the guys and WAY more! Playing games is a great way to enjoy time together with your spouse, your friends, your family, or your kids!

Always Inspire ~ GIVEAWAY!

Let's face it...sometimes it is hard to find accessories that suit our personal style! I mean, why do so many of the card holders and wallets have to be leather? Or why are all the sunglasses cases in plain black? In order to find the fun, fashionable and high quality products that we're often on the look out for, I've found that it really helps to buy something handmade. Something unique, and stitched together with care. Always Inspire has a fabulous line of products made from designer fabrics. The shoppe is full of fashionable and fun accessories for both mom and babe. I received a Sunglasses/Reading Glasses Case and a Mini Wallet/Card Case - and they are great! The Mini wallet is just the right size to keep some of my stash of library cards, credit cards, etc. safe - I even like to use it for coupons! ;) It closes with a snap and the seams have been reinforced to ensure that it will stay I said: Handmade = high quality!

And the Sunglasses case is equally as wonderful. It is lightly padded as well...enough to keep those shades safe, but not enough to make it bulky. Both of these products are made from a fun, and funky designer fabric as well...and I love that they will stand out from the normal Walmart brands!

Always Inspire also carries a bunch of accessories for baby as well! They've got some of the cutest Bib and Burp cloth sets I've seen in a long time. Or why not check out their new Simplicity line? I'm a huge fan of products that are simple, well made, and unique - and the items Always Inspire definitely fit this bill!

Always Inspire would LOVE to give one your your own sunglasses case and mini wallet of your choice from her shoppe. In order to get one entry, head over to Always Inspire and let me know what your favorite product is.

Many Moons for Mama

More cloth mama pads you say? Well, I have decided to continue with the cloth pad theme that Glimpse has been having this week. :) Many Moons Alternatives offers a fabulous line of cloth pads. I received a pack of six pads of my choice to try out. Being new the world of cloth pads I went for a variety of different sizes. And I was very pleased with every one of them...each one was good for a different part...the goodnight pad was fabulous for night. Loved it! And some of the smaller/medium sizes were better for daytime use, heavy flow days and light flow days. Many Moons cloth pads are made of soft and absorbent flannel cotton and each of the ones I received also had a leak-proof nylon lining. I really liked the idea of me a sense of security to know that I won't be leaking anywhere. ;) I definitely found them to be extremely comfortable. Each pad comes with 2 insertable liners, so you can use one liner, both liners, or zero liners - depending on what you need. I found that the cloth pads were comfortable no matter how many liners I was using. I just loved the versatility of Many Moons Pads - plus they were very easy to care for and clean as well.

One other great thing about Many Moons Pads is that they come with a 2 Year Warranty!! I haven't found this anywhere else, and would definitely feel better investing in cloth pads that are well made, wouldn't you? :)

If you're not ready to enter the world of cloth mama pads just yet, why not check out some of the other fantastic products that Many Moons Alternatives carries...such as their Buckwheat Hull Pillows or their safe and natural household products.

Many Moons Alternatives would love to give you 2 free mini pads (value $20) when you purchase two 6-packs. Please mention that you read Many Moons on Glimpse in the "Where Did You Hear About Us" field in the shopping cart in order to receive your free pads.

Homestead Emporium ~ Giveaway

Looks like this is turning into cloth pad week here at Glimpse! Can you tell that once you start, you get hooked? It's really a wonderful thing!

Homestead Emporium has been around for quite a while in the cloth pad world. Maybe the name Homemade Mama rings a bell. Homestead Emporium is one and the same, with a few more goodies available in their online store.

Some of my very first pads, and definitely my first favorites, were from Homestead Emporium. I loved the soft bamboo velour, and the smaller tabs. I don't know about you, but I don't like to feel like I have a thick pad between my legs!

Homestead Emporium recently came out with a new style for their comfort contour pads that was something I new I had to try! The tabs are now a little fuller, but still made from the super thin microfleece that keeps them trim. This is definitely my favorite design. I get a better fit, it's more secure, and I still have the soft bamboo velour and great absorbency.

I also love the gorgeous hand dyed fabrics that are available. Isn't this just beautiful! Now that's a way to make a period happy :)
Would you like a chance to try out Homestead Emporiums new style? Here's your chance! One lucky reader will receive a regular length comfort contour pad from Homestead Emporium! For one entry, let us know what is your favorite item from Homestead Emporium's shop. Or, if you would like to try something else, we now have a second prize available to one lucky reader, of a $15 gift certificate to Homestead Emporium. So that's two prizes, two winners!

County Cloth Comfort ~ GIVEAWAY!

Beautiful, luxurious, fun, comfy, and one of a kind...that definitely describes the cloth mama pads I received from County Cloth Pads! There's just something about products that are home...that makes them better. The cloth pads I received from County Cloth Pads are VERY nice! They're trim, super absorbant (WAY more absorbant than any disposable pad I've ever tried), and are just very easy to use and yes...I love them. :) I really like the double snap feature. This is hard to find in the world of cloth pads...I've looked. County Cloth Pads is one of the few places I've found that has the double snap (on pads 8.5" or longer), and it definitely helps keep everthing in place better and gets rid of that horrible "bunching" that can occur know what I'm talking about, right? ;) Like I said before, I love that these are 100% handmade. The owner drafted and designed every single pad and even hand dyes some of the fabrics her own - which makes them completely unique and fun.

County Cloth Pads has a great selection of fabrics as well...everything from Flannel topped pads to cotton/bamboo pads to Minky topped pads (and let me tell you...have you ever felt minky? SOFT, SOFT, SOFT!!) Honestly though, no matter what the fabric is, I'd have to vouch for the fact that these cloth pads are great. The designs are great, the fabrics are fun, I've had NO problems with leaks whatsoever, they're comfy and better for you and for the environment, and well, if you can't tell, I'm a really big fan of County Cloth Pads. :)

County Cloth Pads would love to give one of our readers the set of cloth mama pads pictured on the left! Included are two pantyliners and a 10" pad - a perfect little set to help build up your stash or to just give this whole cloth idea a try! In order to get one entry, head over to County Cloth Pads and let us know which item caught your eye.

Go Natural ~ GIVEAWAY!

I don't know why I never thought of it before...I mean, I use cloth diapers, and these are basically the same idea...just for mama's instead. I'm talking about cloth pads. I sure wish I'd have discovered these YEARS ago!! They are incredible. Honestly. And not gross at all! Effie the Pixie sent out a few cloth pads to try out - a 10" Micro Fleece topped pad, an 8.5" bamboo velour topped pad, and a few 7" flannel topped panty liners. I loved every one of them. They are 100% for sure the most comfortable and best fitting pads that I have ever used. I love cloth! No wonder babies/kids like cloth diapers better than disposables! :) Oh yeah, and like I said - they weren't gross at all. In fact, I had WAY less leaking issues with these cloth pads, and they were very easy to take care of...basically just rinse them out a bit and throw them in wth your laundry. The cloth pads I received from Effie the Pixie were VERY absorbant as well. I used FAR less of them than I would've normally used if I had disposable pads. Plus, her designs are wonderful. They pads fit extrememly well, and even look pretty! ;) So, my take on my first try with cloth mama pads? LOVE IT!! They save money, save the environment, are WAY more comfortable, and let's just say that I'd recommend them to any mama and would say that cloth pads are definitely worth the investment!

WIN IT! Effie the Pixie has offered THREE fabulous prizes! One winner will receive a 10" micro fleece pad, the second winner will receive an 8.5" bamboo velour pad, and the third winner will receive 2 bamboo cotton topped 7" panty liners!! In order to receive one entry, head over to Effie the Pixie and let us know what type of cloth pad you'd like to try out, or something you learned while visiting her site.

Lisa B's Personalized Gifts

I came across Lisa B's Canadian shop located in Montreal, Que. Lisa B's sent me a beautiful towel with our babies name on it and a blanket with Jacob's name on it. The towel I can't show yet because I haven't even told family our babies name yet.

The embroidery is not at all what I expected. It was in large bright colored font. Very durable and sturdy. Jacob was thrilled to see his name on it. He takes it along with him throughout the house and showing everyone who visits. Jacob loves the cozy fleece feel to it as it is so soft and cuddly.

"The wonderful thing about personalization is just that you can customize your item just the way you want. If you are looking for a gift for that wonderful gourmet in your family, why not surprise them with their own personalized tea towels; “Joanne’s kitchen” or how about in Italian “La cucina di Silvanna” or “Mary’s Muffins” and why not for the men; Dave’s Bar or John’s BBQ, you are only limited by your own imagination! Go with it and have some fun!!"

Purchase It! Personalized embroidery is a wonderful way to make a great gift unforgettable. There are Categories ranging from "for him, for her, baby, teacher gifts, towels, blankets, and bags etc. Literally anything you can think of to be personalized - they can do it!

Admire This!

Cuddly, original, perfect. That's how I'd describe Tate's new blanket from Admiral Road. I think I love it almost as much as he does. :) Tate thinks his new Race Car Blanket from Admiral Road is something special - and he's right! Admiral Road creates beautifully unique blankets for babies, toddlers and even for the biggest of big kids. Each blanket is made of 100% non-pill polar fleece and is they're easy as can be to keep clean...washer + dryer = clean! Keep those Toesies Cozy ~ GIVEAWAY!

It seems that we always have cold toes around here. Even me! Especially during the cooler times of the year (which is about 3/4 of the year in Canada!) Generation Baby has come up with a fabulous idea to keep our toesies cozy. They have created a Toezer Pouch, which is basically a uniquely shaped blanket. The bottom half consists of a pouch that you can slide your child's legs into, while the top half is a blanket that covers their front to keep even their fingers nice and warm. The Toezer Pouch does not go behind the child so you'll have no issues with getting the saftey harness or seat belt on correctly. As you can see the Toezer pouch is perfect for using in carseats, or even in a stroller with your toddler! The pouch also comes with straps which tie behind to keep it in place, as well as a handy little pocket on the front to store those essentials. You know, the essentials like snacks and toys! ;)

Generation Baby also carries a great selection of other products that are all high quality, practical and made in Canada! Their change mate is definitely one of the neatest ideas I've seen in a long time. Generation Baby is full of great products for any mom, dad, aunt, grandma or babysitter!

Generation Baby is giving one of you their very own Toezer Pouch! In order to get one entry, head over to Generation Baby and let me know what else you like the looks/sounds of over there.

Sleepy Wrap

I am SO excited to do a review on the well known and loved Sleepy Wrap!!! I have seen Sleepy Wraps being sold in a variety of Canadian stores and was able to do a review directly from the source. The very first baby carrier that was given to me was a Snuggli. I was constantly dealing with straps, and it sagged so far below my belly no matter how tight I fastened it. I couldn't understand why baby wearing was so popular. I just hadn't found the type of carrier that worked well for me.

From handling the Sleepy Wrap I have found the green color a perfect, bright summery color. I love bright colors, especially with summer looming right around the corner!!! Another thing about the Sleepy Wrap is that it is much stretchier than I would have guessed. The wrap is wonderful. The fabric is VERY soft. It came with an instruction book on all the different carrying positions. There are two front carrying options and a back carrying option. The visual illustrations are easy to follow and I have tried practicing all the holds. I have to prepare for when my baby comes! It also came with a carry case in the matching wrap color which is perfect when you're on the go. That way you won't have a ton of material all strung out in the car.
Ryan modeling for me! He has on many occasions worn Jacob too!
(To view more pictures of the sleepy wrap click here)

My experience in baby wearing has been quite limited so it is great to be able to try one that is so functional and easy to use. No buckles to fuss with, and no rings to adjust. The sleepy wrap is designed perfectly for the babies entire first year. However, you can continue to wear your baby for longer if you wish. Also, because the wrap is made with such a long piece of material it will fit ANYONE!

Plovers Review

I did a review for this product already so a few readers may recognize this! It has been edited to specifically mention the store in Halifax, NS that offers these products and helped to make this review possible. Thank you Plovers! I haven't had the chance to do a review for a company from my home province before, so this was an exciting opportunity. For those of you who may have seen a version of this review, please feel free to read this over it again. Who knows, you may see something that catches your eye!

It was Plovers who sent three the pieces of organic cotton clothing to review made by mini mioche. A short and long sleeve shirt, and bottoms in size 3-6 months which I can't wait to try on my new little one. I really liked them and was impressed. You really can't imagine how soft their cotton is until you feel it for yourself. It looks and feels amazing! I love the natural colors which are perfect for either a boy or a girl.....or for Mom's like me who didn't find out what the sex of the baby was ahead of time. I have had very limited experience with organic cotton and now I am hooked. I've never felt anything like it.
Plovers cotton products are made with the absolute softest 100% SKAL certified organic cotton fabric. They have a variety of colors available. They also offer the hard to find neutral colors such as charcoal, black, olive, natural and white.

Another great feature is that all the labels are printed on the back inside of the clothing. So no extra pieces to irritate babies' skin. All of their products when shipped are placed in an organic cotton bag. Perfect place for carrying an extra outfit when on the go, also great for gift giving.

Purchase It! Plovers have a great line of products ranging from home care, personal care, hemp products, books, things for babies and so much more. To check Plovers' full line of products and to find some great gift giving ideas click here.

Keeping Kozi ~ GIVEAWAY!

It seems that the cold weather just can't stay away this year. I seriously considered moving to Hawaii when it snowed at the end of May!! :) And even though summer is supposed to be coming, with all this cold weather that seems to be sticking around, I must share this VERY useful and unique stroller blanket we received from ChicPeek. The owner created this fabulous idea on her own - and yep, it is ingenious. The Kozi Strollz is a warm fleece blanket that has "pants" or slots for your childs' legs attached to it. You simply put their feet/legs into the "pants" on the blanket, buckle them up (which is very easy to do with this style of blanket!), and wrap the rest of the Kozi Strollz blanket around their upper body. The blanket stays on, the baby/child stays nice and toasty warm, plus it looks cute too! :) ChicPeek's Kozi Strollz will fit newborn to around 2 years. My son is almost 3 and it still works with him! The Kozi Strollz is absolutely perfect for keeping your little one warm in spring or fall, or even on a cool, cloudy summer day!

ChicPeek also has a bunch of other great products! Like the adorable itty bitty snap Miklips which Emily received! Or perhaps you need something like a Buggie Hug, or a carseat cover...or maybe even a tutu for your little princess. ChicPeek is a great place to find all these products and more!

ChicPeek would love to give one of our readers their own Kozi Strollz in their choice of fabric! In order to get one entry, head over to ChicPeek and let us know what you loved in their shop.
