Sweet Wraps for a Cure!

I am so excited to be able to bring you a product with a cause! I recently found Sweet Words on Etsy, and was taken by the Sweet Twirly Girly Skirts. When I had a chance to chat with Melissa, the creator, she mentioned that she had a new project on the go, something that would make a difference in the lives of children.

Sweet Wraps are adorable little head wraps for little kids. They are very simple to tie on and they stay on! Bria was sent one with little fairies on it, and it is honestly the only hat she will keep on her head! She loves it, and tries to put it on herself whenever she finds it. I am very happy with how the light-weight cotton keeps her head covered, but not too hot. Having red heads has definitely posed a challenge to me to keep their heads covered!

But the cause is also very close to my heart. Last October, shortly after Glimpse was launched, my little girl had to have kidney surgery at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. We knew she would be staying in the hospital for at least 3 or 4 nights, and I was going to stay with her. The option of staying at Ronald McDonald House was given to me, and though I decided that I wanted to be right in the room with Bria, it was really a relief to have been offered the chance to stay at Ronald McDonald House. It is a home away from home for the families of children suffering from some of the worst health issues, including cancer.

So how can you make a difference? For every two Sweet Wraps that are purchased from Sweet Words, one will be donated to a child at Ronald McDonald House in Winnipeg! Express!ons Boutique

A while back I found out that a former classmate of mine from high school had starting making all kinds of great things for her daughter, and had started to sell to friends and family as well. I thought it was awesome that she was making these things, and asked her if she had any sort of website that people could order from.

Express!ons Boutique is a great place to find hair clips and comfy headbands for your daughter, nursing covers, children's belts, and the cutest sock monkeys! With a great selection of ribbons and fabrics to choose from, there is definitely something there for everyone. I had a really hard time picking which ribbons I wanted!

We got some adorable hair clips for Bria, as well as a comfy head band. The clips stay in really well, and we love the bright colors! We haven't used the headband as much, because Bria tends to pull it out of her hair, but I must say that it also fits me! I have worn it on occasion, and hopefully Bria will learn to leave it in too.

A Vonderful Goot Game!

Fast thinking, quick acting...and multi tasking at it's best!! That is how I'd describe the card game, Dutch Blitz, which we received from a HUGE all Canadian games store - Starlit Citadel. You better not try to play this game when you're sleepy! haha. It's incredibly fast paced and in my opinion is a BLAST! And the best part is that you don't have to have a lot of strategic brain power...just some very speedy brain power! My hubby wasn't the biggest fan of this game, but every other female that I've played it with has LOVED it! Hmmm...maybe it's because they "say" guys can't multi-task as much as ladies? haha...perhaps! Whether that is true or not, I think Dutch Blitz is loved more by the female population...it's fast, it's fun, you get to do more than one thing at once and basically the only skills you really need are counting, being able to identify colors, and of course, being able to multi-task. ;) I'm a huge fan of Dutch Blitz and could play it every night - but in order to do that I guess I'll have to wait until my 1 year old daughter gets old enough to play with me. ;)

Many Moons for Mama

More cloth mama pads you say? Well, I have decided to continue with the cloth pad theme that Glimpse has been having this week. :) Many Moons Alternatives offers a fabulous line of cloth pads. I received a pack of six pads of my choice to try out. Being new the world of cloth pads I went for a variety of different sizes. And I was very pleased with every one of them...each one was good for a different part...the goodnight pad was fabulous for night. Loved it! And some of the smaller/medium sizes were better for daytime use, heavy flow days and light flow days. Many Moons cloth pads are made of soft and absorbent flannel cotton and each of the ones I received also had a leak-proof nylon lining. I really liked the idea of this...gives me a sense of security to know that I won't be leaking anywhere. ;) I definitely found them to be extremely comfortable. Each pad comes with 2 insertable liners, so you can use one liner, both liners, or zero liners - depending on what you need. I found that the cloth pads were comfortable no matter how many liners I was using. I just loved the versatility of Many Moons Pads - plus they were very easy to care for and clean as well.

One other great thing about Many Moons Pads is that they come with a 2 Year Warranty!! I haven't found this anywhere else, and would definitely feel better investing in cloth pads that are well made, wouldn't you? :)

Homestead Emporium ~ Giveaway

Looks like this is turning into cloth pad week here at Glimpse! Can you tell that once you start, you get hooked? It's really a wonderful thing!

Homestead Emporium has been around for quite a while in the cloth pad world. Maybe the name Homemade Mama rings a bell. Homestead Emporium is one and the same, with a few more goodies available in their online store.

Some of my very first pads, and definitely my first favorites, were from Homestead Emporium. I loved the soft bamboo velour, and the smaller tabs. I don't know about you, but I don't like to feel like I have a thick pad between my legs!

Homestead Emporium recently came out with a new style for their comfort contour pads that was something I new I had to try! The tabs are now a little fuller, but still made from the super thin microfleece that keeps them trim. This is definitely my favorite design. I get a better fit, it's more secure, and I still have the soft bamboo velour and great absorbency.

I also love the gorgeous hand dyed fabrics that are available. Isn't this just beautiful! Now that's a way to make a period happy :)

County Cloth Comfort ~ GIVEAWAY!

Beautiful, luxurious, fun, comfy, and one of a kind...that definitely describes the cloth mama pads I received from County Cloth Pads! There's just something about products that are handmade...at home...that makes them better. The cloth pads I received from County Cloth Pads are VERY nice! They're trim, super absorbant (WAY more absorbant than any disposable pad I've ever tried), and are just very easy to use and yes...I love them. :) I really like the double snap feature. This is hard to find in the world of cloth pads...I've looked. County Cloth Pads is one of the few places I've found that has the double snap (on pads 8.5" or longer), and it definitely helps keep everthing in place better and gets rid of that horrible "bunching" that can occur sometimes...you know what I'm talking about, right? ;) Like I said before, I love that these are 100% handmade. The owner drafted and designed every single pad and even hand dyes some of the fabrics her own - which makes them completely unique and fun.

County Cloth Pads has a great selection of fabrics as well...everything from Flannel topped pads to cotton/bamboo pads to Minky topped pads (and let me tell you...have you ever felt minky? SOFT, SOFT, SOFT!!) Honestly though, no matter what the fabric is, I'd have to vouch for the fact that these cloth pads are great. The designs are great, the fabrics are fun, I've had NO problems with leaks whatsoever, they're comfy and better for you and for the environment, and well, if you can't tell, I'm a really big fan of County Cloth Pads. :)

I don't know why I never thought of it before...I mean, I use cloth diapers, and these are basically the same idea...just for mama's instead. I'm talking about cloth pads. I sure wish I'd have discovered these YEARS ago!! They are incredible. Honestly. And not gross at all! Effie the Pixie sent out a few cloth pads to try out - a 10" Micro Fleece topped pad, an 8.5" bamboo velour topped pad, and a few 7" flannel topped panty liners. I loved every one of them. They are 100% for sure the most comfortable and best fitting pads that I have ever used. I love cloth! No wonder babies/kids like cloth diapers better than disposables! :) Oh yeah, and like I said - they weren't gross at all. In fact, I had WAY less leaking issues with these cloth pads, and they were very easy to take care of...basically just rinse them out a bit and throw them in wth your laundry. The cloth pads I received from Effie the Pixie were VERY absorbant as well. I used FAR less of them than I would've normally used if I had disposable pads. Plus, her designs are wonderful. They pads fit extrememly well, and even look pretty! ;) So, my take on my first try with cloth mama pads? LOVE IT!! They save money, save the environment, are WAY more comfortable, and let's just say that I'd recommend them to any mama and would say that cloth pads are definitely worth the investment!

Pretty for her Hair ~ GIVEAWAY!

Cuddly, original, perfect. That's how I'd describe Tate's new blanket from Admiral Road. Keep those Toesies Cozy ~ GIVEAWAY!

It seems that we always have cold toes around here. Even me! Especially during the cooler times of the year (which is about 3/4 of the year in Canada!) Sleepy Wrap

I am SO excited to do a review on the well known and loved Sleepy Wrap!!! I have seen Sleepy Wraps being sold in a variety of Canadian stores and was able to do a review directly from the source. The very first baby carrier that was given to me was a Snuggli. I was constantly dealing with straps, and it sagged so far below my belly no matter how tight I fastened it. I couldn't understand why baby wearing was so popular. I just hadn't found the type of carrier that worked well for me.

From handling the Sleepy Wrap I have found the green color a perfect, bright summery color. I love bright colors, especially with summer looming right around the corner!!! Another thing about the Sleepy Wrap is that it is much stretchier than I would have guessed. The wrap is wonderful. The fabric is VERY soft. It came with an instruction book on all the different carrying positions. There are two front carrying options and a back carrying option. The visual illustrations are easy to follow and I have tried practicing all the holds. I have to prepare for when my baby comes! It also came with a carry case in the matching wrap color which is perfect when you're on the go. That way you won't have a ton of material all strung out in the car.

I did a review for this product already so a few readers may recognize this! Keeping Kozi ~ GIVEAWAY!

It seems that the cold weather just can't stay away this year.
