tWOWel!!

So, to be honest, I'm not much of a paper towel person. I like to use a cloth that can be washed and reused. I've never been much for disposable anything, so paper towels last FOREVER in our house! I don't even remember the last time I bought any. So, to hear of a paper towel that is environmentally friendly, reusable, and strong, I was intrigued! I really didn't think it was possible.

When I first got my samples of tWOWels from Natures Wizard, I was curious to see what they could do. I've had the chance to use them each a few times, and they work really well! They are definitely very strong, and they absorb a lot. Great for cleaning up messes and spills, and I actually thought they were the perfect thing for cleaning little hands and faces after a meal. They are incredibly soft too.

Blue Celery Babywearing

Anyone who knows our family knows that our house is "babywearing central." If I have a chance to wear my babies, they'll be worn, and they love it too! The very first baby carrier I ever had was a wrap...it was my first "love" and out of all the carriers I've tried, the wrap is still my favorite. Mabel's Labels

Andrea and I both had a chance to try out some Mabel's Labels. We thought we'd share our thoughts with you in a combined review. Mabel's Labels offers great, durable labels for just about anything you can imagine. From shoes to canisters to cords, you're sure to find the label you need!



Tag-Mates:

I'm sure you can all relate to your kids' clothing, well, just disappearing sometimes! I remember my mom was forever reminding me to make sure that I didn't lose my gloves, or my hat, or any of my other things. But no matter how many reminders we give to our kids, let's just face it...things go missing. And often it is even items like sweaters or ski pants that accidentally get left behind. Mabel's Labels has a solution! Tag-mates are peel and stick clothing care tags that are attached to your childs clothes, jackets, etc. We got some for Tate and LOVE them! They couldn't be any easier to apply with their peel and stick feature, and they are durable as well! Mabel's Labels Tag-Mates won't fall off in the washer or dryer and will even stay put while your energetic toddler wears and tears their clothing. ;) I am very impressed with the quality and practicability of Tag-Mates.

I have some Tag-Mates for Bria as well. This past October Bria had to have kidney surgery, and while we were in the hospital, I was happy to have Tag-Mates to label all of her clothing. Much nicer than using a marker, and these tags don't come off in the wash! Since then, her clothing has gone through numerous washings, and the tags still look brand new.


Sticky Labels:

Mabel's Labels also carries the very popular and 100% useful sticky labels. Emily got a pack of these for her belongings, and they are fabulous as well. They stick to almost anything and everything...toys, sippy cups, bottles, lunch boxes, etc. You can order them in sets of colors which makes picking and applying a new sticky label even more fun. :) I've come to expect great quality from Mabel's Labels and these definitely fit the bill as well...durable as can be. They don't come off in water or fade, or peel...they do their job so well!

Rowan also got a set of Sticky Labels which he was pretty excited about! He quickly asked if he could put one on his guitar, and picked a blue one :) This fall he will be heading to pre-school, and I know these will be super handy in labeling all the things he needs to bring along.

Shoe Labels:

I purchased some shoe labels for Bria at the same time I got the Tag-Mates. I think these are such a neat way to keep your little ones shoes from getting mixed up at church or school. They come with a protective sticker to go over the label, so you can be sure it won't wear off.

Mabel's Labels offers a few other kinds of labels, including allergy alert labels, and 411 Wristbands. If you child has an allergy, these could be a lifesaver!

Not to leave Mom out of the mix, there are some great Household Labels available as well. Mabel's Lables will keep you organized, that's for sure!

Side Street Studio

Side Street Studio recently sent a pair of Padraig New Born Wool Slippers. They are the CUTEST booties. I have always been sold on anything knitted. The quality and detail of these little baby booties are surprising. The picture really doesn't do them justice. On the inside of the booties, it has the softest - real wool insoles - so fuzzy!

The booties are machine washable but need to be air dried. Side Street Studio only sells Canadian made items, but does ship internationally. Side Street Studio is located in British Columbia.

They are cozy, long lasting and breathable for increased comfort in both summer and winter. They also come in a variety of beautiful colors. I requested the cream color as I don't know if our baby will be a boy or a girl, but this neutral color I think would be a perfect non-gender color. The bottom is made of a non-skid leather material which is great for increased traction. It is light and flexible allowing the slipper to mould to the individual foot in a non-constrictive way.

Another great option Side Street Studio gives is that these slippers are available in adult sizes too! I can't remember a time when I never had a pair of my own pair of wool slippers. I can't live without them. It is great to have something to wear around the house when on your feet all day. The problem I have had with past wool slippers is that they are soooo slippery but with these, you would never have that problem!

Smoothing those baby lumps :)

Many moms (myself included) find that their bodies just never go back to the way they were before pregnancy. Long after the extra weight has been shed, the skin seems to stay stretched out, leaving unsightly bumps and rolls under our clothing. Even those who are blessed with no stretch marks (can I just say that is so unfair :) ) often have a flabby tummy to deal with.

Now, I'm not trying to get down on our post pregnancy bodies AT ALL, after all, pregnancy and birth are such an amazing miracle, but I do want to tell you that there is a way to make yourself look better and FEEL better in the meantime. A Little Chipipi for Her

When Emily was born, she was born into a world of blue at our house. With an older brother, she got all his blue clothes, blankets, jackets, shoes, etc. BUT, she has slowly acquired a fairly big collection of pink things now too...dresses, bows, flowery shoes, etc. :) One thing that Emily does not have though, is her own room. MyHandboundBooks ~ AND A GIVEAWAY!!

These are completely recycled blank journals, made using scraps of cardboard. Each book has 10 carboard sheets. I cut all these cardboard pages from the back covers of the large sketchbooks that I use so it is a thick, solid pressed cardboard (not corrugated). The front and back of each book is covered with colourful paste paper that I made. The books are handbound using an X-stitch over folded paste paper strips across the spine. These books will open completely flat.

The larger book measures 7" x 5" (18cm x 12.5cm)

The smaller book is about 4¾" x 3½" (or 12cm x 9cm).

It's been a long long winter here in Manitoba, and honestly, I'm ready to put away the winter woolies and pull out some lighter jackets and hats!

I have been using some homemade, (by myself and my mom :) ) reusable nursing pads for most the time that I've nursed my 2 kids. However, I think I may now be spoiled by the new Woven Wool Backed Leak Resistant Nursing Pads that I received from Naturekins. They are amazing! They are VERY thin, and are totally leak resistant. I'm sure the wool backing does the trick! And the inner layer...well, let's just say it's the softest nursing pad I've ever tried. The wool layer can be placed against your breast to help with problems such as thrush or cracking. It keeps everything nice and dry and don't worry! Bria is slowly growing out of the major baby wearing stage, which makes me a little sad! I have loved keeping her happy and close, but I don't have very many chances to wear her anymore. She's a busy little thing!

Heal it With Hazelwood ~ AND A GIVEAWAY!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...I'm not a big jewelry fan. BUT it is a whole different story if the jewelry I'm wearing serves a purpose (besides looking pretty :) ). A Handy Spot to Sitt

Whew! Going places with small children can be a tiring thing...especially when you are hauling along diaper bags, toys for entertainment, high chairs, sippy cups, etc. Even just going out for supper involves a lot of packing and planning these days!
