Are you ready for this? I mean...really...words can't even describe how impressed we are with the product I'm about to share with you. It's that good. And I must admit. If I could only choose ONE product to buy out of alllll the products I've ever reviewed. This would be it. Hands down. So what is it? The most fabulous bike we've ever come across - a Strider Running Bike. Allow me to gush a little bit. :) Tate loves bikes (what kid doesn't?) but he doesn't love pedals. He loves to push with his feet, but those pedals are ALWAYS in the way resulting in nasty bruises on his legs, etc. I never thought that in less than a month he would be able to ride a 2-wheeler bike ON HIS OWN. That just doesn't happen, right? At least not with a 3 yr. old! Well, it has happened and it's completely due to his new Strider Running Bike. **This bike completely eliminates the need for tricycles or training wheels and is for a great range of riders (18 months up to 5 years).
**The Strider is light - less than 7 lbs (less than a newborn babe!, and is about 1/3 the weight of a normal bike with training wheels. Tate has absolutely ZERO trouble manipulating or lifting his bike.
**It is the only running bike with integrated Launch pad foot rests - located at just the right spot for your little one to put their feet up while gliding, or even to ride standing up.
**Strider Bikes are as safe as they could possibly be. No chains, cables, pedals...and there are no extra protrusions that can cause owies.
**The bike has a low center of gravity - making the child feel very safe, secure and most importantly, in control.
**Puncture-proof all-terrain tires which are made from moulded foam - no flats or replacements will ever be needed!
How are you enjoying my gushing?! haha. Every one of those facts is 100% true - we've tested and tried our Strider and it is incredible. With the Strider Tate can ride over curbs...through piles of leaves, on the grass, through the garden...anywhere we can walk he can ride. And to say that he LOVES it would be an understatement. :) If you're still not convinced about the worth of a Strider Running Bike check out this little video I made of Tate riding last week (note...this is the boy who can't pedal and 3 weeks ago didn't even know what balance and steering were! He doesn't lift his feet up much yet - but every once in a while he does...another few weeks and I bet he'll be gliding too! :) )
I am being completely honest when I say that if there ever was an outdoor toy that we'd purchase a 2nd of, it would be a Strider Bike. Emily has tried out Tate's Strider a bit too - and since she's only 18 months she's just a very wee beginner, but she begs to ride on it...however, as you can imagine, Tate is reluctant to give up his treasured bike. So I have a feeling that a 2nd Strider may be on it's way by next summer!
The Strider Running Bike truly is a remarkable toy and tool. If you want to give your kids a head start on learning balance and control of a two-wheeler, as well as giving them a vehicle to have TONS of fun with, this would be it.
WIN IT!

this is not a cotest entry, i just want to make a note that all the gushing done in this post is true! i am an au pair in germany and both boys i take care of (ages 3 and 5) have laufraeder (running bikes) and they LOVE them! one more benefit is that they don't lag behind when we go on walks! i'm very excited to hear that there's a canadian company that sells these. i'll keep that in mind for the future. ;) so congrats in advance to the winner and i'd suggest the rest of you go out and buy your own! :)
I really like--Better saddle ergonomics... Strider offers a regular bicycle saddle with a molded plastic shell with a traditional saddle design of narrow nose with wider rear seating wings plus padding and vinyl cover all scaled to fit a small rider.
This looks like it would be a lot better for my little riders:)
My favorite color is the blue one.
I love the orange or red biks but wouldn't complain at all if I won a yellow one ;)
Chloe is 2 and has a tricycle but still hasn't figured out the whole peddling thing and certainly has no balance. LOL. I have to admit I'm a little skeptical.
I thought it was great that the height adjustment can go as low as 11" to as high as 16" and that you can buy standard tubing to raise it even further if needed. It really makes for a bike that can "grow" with you.
And yes, you did a lot of gushing! LOL

Wow! What I love about this bike is that the seat is lower so that a child can place BOTH FEET FIRMLY ON THE GROUND....this will prevent so many tip overs and wipe outs! Love it! If I won I would choose the yellow color. Thanks!

wow, great review!
I've seen these at the sports store and couldn't figure out why you would want a bike without peddles! Now I understand. With that I also have a little girl who thinks she is 5yrs old like her bike brother so I like that this bike can make a little kid feel like they are big. She would also like pink.

love the fact that kids learn to balance without having to coordinate pedals at the same time. one thing to learn at a time!
I love the fact that there is no chains, no grease and no pedals to trip up your little guy while riding. I think that this bike is amazing and that my 2 year old would love it. It would give him the freedom to explore the outdoors on his terms for he is always getting frustrated with his tricycle! I love the blue strider, but the yellow strider is great too!! Those are really cool ! I love how it doesn't have chains or pedals. My kids would always push their bikes around in that manner , but they got so many scrapes from the pedals and chain that I didn't even pull their bikes out for them very often.
Thats not to mention the balance aspect..It is for that reason that my son didn't learn to ride his bike until he was almost 9 , and DS2 is almost 9 now and still doesn't know how. (this is partially my fear of them falling also)
I'd love the pink for my little girl !

A major benefit, I think, is that kids can get and stay fit at a younger age: rather than being pushed around in strollers they can keep up with the rest of the family.

Placing both feet on the optional brake lever also provides an opportunity at the bottom of the hill to create a great skid mark, which our young test riders really love!
I would of loved doing that as a kid
