If you are like me, then the thought of a brand new journal or notebook is exciting. I don't know what it is, but just looking at the cute cover and thinking of all the things that will be written in it's pages makes me smile! MyHandboundBooks is an Etsy shop based in Nova Scotia that offers great journals, sketchbooks, and notebooks. I'd like to highlight one type of book though, that you may not have thought of before! Here's the description from MyHandboundBooks:
These are completely recycled blank journals, made using scraps of cardboard. Each book has 10 carboard sheets. I cut all these cardboard pages from the back covers of the large sketchbooks that I use so it is a thick, solid pressed cardboard (not corrugated). The front and back of each book is covered with colourful paste paper that I made. The books are handbound using an X-stitch over folded paste paper strips across the spine. These books will open completely flat. The larger book measures 7" x 5" (18cm x 12.5cm)
The smaller book is about 4¾" x 3½" (or 12cm x 9cm).

Wow, I'm totally drooling here. I can't decide which I like better, the "Extra Large Leather Sketchbook or Journal-Matte Black" or the "Large Leather Sketchbook-Espresso" or the "Dark Chocolate Leather Journal-handbound-500 pages". I like the clean design of the 1st two and and the sizes of the 1st two because sometimes I need a larger canvas but then the 3rd one is more of an everyday use-kinda size and I'm more partial to tying it closed...but then again, the 2nd one is made with heavier paper which I like...
Either way, I'd use them as sketchbooks. :D

I "met" Rhonda at an Etsy trunk show for Canadian sellers and fell in love with her beautiful journals.

I would use this for jotting down thoughts and sketching out ideas, and adding in the odd bit of interesting ephemera - like an inspiration journal.
