Race Ya to The Treehouse! ~ AND A GIVEAWAY!

Emily recently received a new hat! It seems that her hat collection is growing, and this is definitely a most welcome addition to that hat collection of hers. :) Little Treehouse sent Emily a racer cap...and as you can see...she loves it! (yes, we've been blessed with 2 babies/toddlers who actually LIKE to wear hats!) At our house it is even fun to wear hats inside! (yes, these pictures were taken inside...the -40 C. weather made us think again about venturing out the door!) The racer cap is both sweet & sporty. It is also made of soft organic cotton and is comfy and cozy. I also love the fact that it covers Emily's ears. Hats like this seem to be far and few between. The other feature that I like about the hat is that you can tie it up under the chin...so just in case Emily decides she doesn't like hats anymore, I can hopefully keep it on a bit longer this way! Oh, and the racer cap also fits babies from 0-12 months! We're always a big fan of items that can be used for more than 2 or 3 months. Little Treehouse also has a great selection of other fabulous products...all which are fun and organic!

Just the Facts Baby (& a Word About This Week)

In the blogging world you sometimes just happen chance across a new and exciting site or blog. And when this happens in the blogging world, sometimes you just have to share it with...well, with the blogging world! I just recently discovered a fantastic and very informative site called Just the Facts Baby. It is written by 2 professional journalists (and new moms!) who know the feeling of needing to have an answer to your question NOW! Oh, I know that feeling all to well too. Just the Facts Baby has a variety of articles that are both up-to-date and reliable. And for us moms who need the facts in less than a minute, there are also 30-second quick articles which have the basic facts...that's it..."just the facts." :) Of course you can go back later and read the more in-depth articles if you need to. Just the Facts Baby also has a bunch of other great pockets of information on their site. There are interactive planning tools, expert Q & A's, printable city maps, and quite possibly one of my favorite features of the site is that they give moms a heads-up about baby-friendly restaurants, stores, breastfeeding and change areas. Now THAT is the kind of info I need some days! Just the Facts Baby is your guide for all things mom and baby.

And guess what? Just the Facts Baby is getting right into the spirit of giving and right now, they're giving away some awesome, parent-designed products featured in their holiday gift guide. Anyone who signs up for their free weekly newsletter has a chance to win! Contest runs until Jan 1, 2009.

**Note About This Week on Glimpse**
Due to this week being Christmas week, we will not be featuring any reviews /shops/products (other than this one). Things will be back to normal with reviews & giveaways starting up again next Monday (Dec. 29th). We hope you have a Wonderful and Blessed Christmas!

My Weather, My Playdates, My Week

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm a MAJOR organizing and planning mom. And when things are not organized or planned out...well, it tends to drive me up the wall a bit. ;) I can handle it, but I'd MUCH rather prefer to have things well thought out, planned and organized. I like to have schedules and routines...I like to KNOW what's happening each week...and I think that at 2 1/2 yrs. old Tate is already starting to catch onto all this organizing and planning! Of course we do have a lot of unorganized fun together too...there's time for this as well! But we recently got a new organizing tool. Yippee! ;) Tate received a 2Fish Kids My Week Calender from Stork Baby Boutique. It's a wipe-off, magnetic weekly calender and I'm REALLY looking forward to using it with Tate. The 2Fish Kids Calender is colorful, fun-looking and is perfect for teaching your child about the days of the week, seasons, weather, daily/weekly routines...and of course they even can add on special events. Tate LOVES playing with his new calender. He doesn't quite understand the organization part of it all yet, but with time, he will. :) Just the other day him and I plotted out our week. We put the season up (coooooolllld winter!); we put a weather magnet on to show what the weather was that day; we put the 'yesterday' 'today' and 'tomorrow' magnets on the right days of the week and then we picked out some activities to help us remember what we're going to be doing this week. It was great fun...and not only will Tate be able to check out his calender and see what's going on, but it will definitely help ME to remember what's happening too! The 2Fish Kids Calender comes with 58 Activity, Season and Weather magnets, a dry erase marker (in case you have something extra special to add on the calender!), and a reusable storage bag.

So, our favorite parts of the 2Fish Kids Calender from Stork Baby Boutique? Well, not only is it relevant, useful, and fun, but it's also a GREAT tool for interacting with Tate and for teaching him a variety of things in a fun and exciting way!

Shannon's Irish Bliss

I really really REALLY love handmade soaps! In fact, I haven't bought any soap from the store in ages. It just seems to dry out my skin and leave it feeling irritated. I also like knowing exactly what is in the soap, and that there aren't any weird chemicals that I can't pronounce, and certainly don't want near my skin!

Shannon's Irish Bliss has some truly awesome soaps! The one I have is called Balanced Spirit, and it totally gives this calming effect. It also leaves my hands clean, but not dried out. Love it! Not too mention it fits so perfectly in my wooden soap deck :) One soap that I want to try yet is the Lime Shea Butter Shaving Soap.

I also got to try some lip balm from Shannon's Irish Bliss. To be honest, I wasn't that fond of it, mostly because I'm not into scented lip balm. I like to keep it simple. But, if you like great scented lip balm, definitely try it! I have the Chai Tea flavor, and it smells really really good. I just don't like my lips to be scented :) Oh, and it's very moisturizing. It will leave your lips all soft and ready for the mistletoe!

If you haven't tried handmade soaps, and you're sick of your Zest or Ivory, you HAVE to try some of Shannon's soaps! You won't regret it, and you'll never go back!

BUY IT!!
Shannon's Irish Bliss is mostly sold out due to the Chrismas rush, but she is always adding new things! Make sure to check back in the new year for more fabulous soaps and lip balms!

There are a few regular discounts for buying multiple items too. Buy 3 lip balms for $10, or 7 bars of soap for $28!

Nana Makes it Right! ~ AND A GIVEAWAY!

With all this FREEZING weather we've been having recently, (really...it's been -40 or lower with the windchill for the past few days now!) Emily's Fleece Baby hat with Earflaps from Nana Brown's has been a blessing! Not only is it cute and nice and soft against her skin, but it is warm - probably the most important part! I'm a huge fan of hats that have earflaps as it ensures that my baby's ears will be covered and won't be getting any cold wind, etc. in them. And of course, Nana Brown's Fleece Baby hat is no exception. Oh, and it's also extra great because it fits a variety of ages. These Fleece Baby Hats are made to fit from Newborn to 12 months old! So no matter what time of year your little one is born it's bound to fit them during their first winter. I do find it to be a bit on the big side for Emily right now, but it still works. :) Nana Brown's Fleece Baby Hats are 100% Canadian Made (yay!), machine washable and are made from pre-shrunk anti-pill polar fleece (so no worries about it suddenly getting smaller after a ride in the dryer). Fenigo

I recently came across one of my new favorite websites. Fenigo is owned and operated by Jana, who is trying to make a difference in the way we treat our bodies and our planet. Fenigo offers many great products, including Klean Kanteen, Laptop Lunches, Greentainer, and my favorite, Built NY.

Jana sent me the Gourmet Getaway Tote, as well as the 20 oz Bottle Tote by Built NY.

The Bottle Tote is the perfect size for my SIGG bottle, which is awesome. I don't know if you've noticed, but the thin aluminum gets mighty chilly! The same goes for Klean Kanteen bottles. They sure aren't made to keep the cold in. All of the Built NY products are made of wetsuit material, which means they are insulated, and cushy. If you drop your bottle, isn't not going to dent. I have previously ruined a SIGG bottle by dropping on the cement floor of our garage. It sure is nice to not have to worry about that now.

The Gourmet Getaway Tote is the perfect lunch bag for a hungry husband :) You can fit plenty of food in the Tote, and it is nicely cushioned and insulated. I took this picture with a larger than average size lunch my husband might take to work. The containers are empty, but you get the idea :)

BUY IT!
If you would like to get 15% off of your next order from Fenigo, please use the code 1008981988. Coupon expires January 31, 2009.

Fenigo is also offering FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $99 til the end of this year!

A Kiss for Your Boo-Boo ~ AND A GIVEAWAY!

Boo-boos. We all get them, don't we? It's not only my kids that are coming to me with boo-boos that need to be "kissed better", but it seems that I am rather accident prone some days too! And if only a kiss could REALLY make all those boo-boos better. Sometimes a kiss just doesn't cut it (no pun intended! haha!). Nature Bella has an amazing Boo-Boo Cream that is completely natural and works wonderfully on scrapes, cuts, insect bites, etc. We are loving our Boo-Boo Cream and it has gotten some good use already in our home. :) This cream is perfect for the delicate skin of babies or children as well as for adults! You can use it on serious wounds or sores, minor cuts or scrapes, dry skin, eczema, psoriasis and more. It has no coloring agents, fragrances or preservatives and is 100% natural. And even though it has no fragrances added, it smells YUMMMMY! I'm guessing it's the organically grown oils in the cream that give it this delicious smell. :) Nature Bella's Boo-Boo Cream is also antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal. I'd say that pretty much covers it all!

WIN IT!

Safe Hair and Body Care with Green Beaver

Let's face it, there are just way to many dangerous chemicals in our hair and body products! I've been trying to get away from that for the last year or so. I've found some things that I really really like, and others that do not live up to their claims.

One company that I will wholeheartedly support is Green Beaver. Founded by Canadian couple who both have science degrees spent years working in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. They know first hand how bad some of these chemicals are for us, and wanted to make something safe for even babies to use. They also source as many of their ingredients as possible from Canada.

I got a chance to try the Shine Enhancing Shampoo, Rejuvenating Conditioner, Winter Body Lotion, and Winter Lip Balm. I give them all a HUGE thumbs up! I love how my hair looks and feels after a wash. The only complaint is that my hair is fine and limp naturally, and I would have done better with the volumizing set.

I usually wash my hair every other day, and I was finding that my hair was getting greasy looking on day two. With the Green Beaver products, I have noticed a huge improvement in my hair. I think because it's not drying out my scalp. You know that nasty cycle of drying, then producing too much oil!

The Winter Body Lotion is thick and very soothing. It does have a slight herbal smell, but that disappears very quickly once the lotion absorbs into the skin. The Winter Lip Balm is nice and smooth, almost like a gloss. It feels great!

If you are looking for a way to treat your hair and body to a safe natural system, Green Beaver is the way to go. Oh, and did I mention that the hair care products smell SO GOOD!!! Go ahead, give it a try :)

Eco Friendly to the Max! ~ AND A GIVEAWAY!!

Are you a fan of eco-friendly products? Well, it seems that eco-friendly items of any type are a big hit now-a-days. People are eager to recycle, reuse, preserve, etc. Products that are better for your family or for the environment are rising up to the popularity chart fast! I, of course, love the eco-friendly products as well...and I recently discovered 2 great ones - both from BuySoapNuts.com. The first is a Safix Coconut Coir Fiber Scrub Pad. These scrub pads can be used for a huge variety of things...dishes, cleaning sinks, cleaning bathroom fixtures or other household articles and more. There are a ton of great benefits to using this coconut fiber scrub pad...

  • It's made from 100% coconut fiber bound together by a non-toxic adhesive
  • It will never rust, splinter or fall apart after just a few uses
  • It easily removes baked on, burnt and stubborn grease from your dishes
  • You will actually use less detergent
  • The pad will not develop a foul odor - ever - and is VERY hygenic
  • Every scrub pad is biodegradable and can be composted
  • It will never scratch your dishes (I LOVE that I can wash my non-stick items with this pad and not have to worry about any scratches)

  • I have been using my coconut scrub pad to wash my dishes, scrub out my sinks, etc. and it seems to work quite well! I'm impressed with the fact that it doesn't fall apart or lose it's shape, as well, I LOVE the fact that it never develops that 'stink' that other scrub pads and even dish cloths often have. However, I do find that I have to scrub harder with a coconut scrub pad than I do with my steel scrub pad in order to get the really tough stuff off of my dishes. However, with all the other benefits, it may still be just the extra scrubbing sometimes. :)

Now, on to the second great item...soapnuts! This is definitely something that I had never tried before. But I was definitely NOT sorry that I tried it! Soapnuts are used as laundry detergent, and these little soapnuts did not let me and my (too big!) piles of laundry down. My laundry definitely came out clean and fresh smelling. I even tested them on the ultimate load of dirty laundry...and big pail full of reallllly dirty diapers from the past day and a half and the results were amazing! Clean, nice smelling diapers...all from just a few soapnuts in the washing machine. Soapnuts laundry detergent contains NO added chemicals, dyes, fragrances, or fillers of any type. This is a huge plus for me, as I'm not a fan of any of the above things. In fact some of the really strong fragrances can trigger my allergies, so these are probably a great option for me...as well as for anyone who has skin allergies, excema, or any other reactions to normal detergents. Oh, and you can wash an unbelievable amount of laundry with these! A 100g bag of soap nuts can do up to 40 loads of laundry. So not only is this is an eco-friendly product, but it's a wallet-friendly product too. :)

    WIN IT!
BuySoapNuts.com has generously offered to give FIVE readers each a 100g bag of Soapnuts and 1 Coconut Fiber Scrub Pad. In order to get ONE entry, leave a comment on this post.

    Bugalug

Both of my kids were born with lots of hair. When my second child was born, and I heard 'it's a girl!', I knew I was going to need something special to keep those locks out of her face. Bugalug offers some great hair accessories that would look cute on any little girl!

I have tried other barrettes before, even ones that claim to be no-slip. Bugalug has a unique strip inside their barrettes that really DOES make them no-slip. Bria has to really pull on it to get it out of her hair. Of course, since she's still little, she pulls EVERYTHING out of her hair, no matter how cute I think she looks :)

The headbands are also super cute, though they don't stay in as well as the clips. They are very adjustable, and I could even wear them!

Both the clips and headbands are available in a bunch of fun patterns and colors. You can also buy soother clips as well as full sets of barrettes, which would make an awesome gift for the little girls in your life!

    BUY IT!
Use the code GLIMPSE10 to get 10% off your order from now til February 28th, 2009!

Bag Those Bibs ~ AND A GIVEAWAY!!

Bibs...a most important part of a childs (and parents!) life! Let's face it...without bibs we'd have a lot more laundry, a lot more stains and a lot more outfit changing (from stuff like too much drool ;) ). We definitely have a nice, big collection of bibs at our house. Too big I think! But when I sort through them I can never find any to get rid of because the little bibs are good for babies...and the big bibs are good for toddlers who feed themselves. Then there's the bibs with pockets to catch the food, and the bibs with or without the waterproof backing on them. Yep, they are all good for something...the problem comes when I need to find a certain type of bib and end up digging through my entire drawer and making a HUGE mess just trying to find one bib. BUT, I've finally found a solution to this bib-digging, messy-drawer, too-many-bibs-in-one-place problem I have. A Bibs Bag from Mother Knows Best! It's such a simple idea...but a great one. The Bibs Bag is simply a little bag with cloth on one side and mesh on the other side. You can hang it on the back of your high chair or in your kitchen...or almost anywhere! It has an elastic opening so you can easily get a bib out without needing to use 2 hands, and the mesh on the back of the Bibs Bag allows not only for air flow, but also for you to see just which bib you want to pick. Our Bibs Bag from Mother Knows Best has been incredibly handy. I simply picked out a handful of bibs that Emily uses on a regular basis and put them in the bag on the back of her high chair...and voila! No more digging and frantically searching through my drawer for a bib. And if you already have a good place to store your clean bibs, you can also use the Bibs Bag for dirty bibs. The Bibs Bag is one of those items that I'd say is a simple but amazingly useful product!

    WIN IT!
