Are you a Tree Hugger? & a Giveaway!

I entered into the cloth diapering world about a year and a half ago. I wanted to do something healthier for my babies, and I also wanted to reduce my environmental impact. The thought of hundreds of stinky diapers being thrown in the trash was disgusting to me.

Shortly after discovering cloth diapers, I came across something that I thought was so weird. Now, if there are any guys reading this, you probably don't want to keep reading :) Yup, that's right, I came across CLOTH menstrual pads! I couldn't believe that people would use them. I mean, wouldn't they be bulky, uncomfortable, and a pain to wash? I quickly moved on and tried to forget about it!

It didn't take long though, and I was seriously considering trying it out. At the time, I was still pregnant, but I knew the day would come that I would need the dreaded pads again. I decided to give it a try. I bought a few pads from different places, just to see what they were like. I'm hooked :)

Of course, just like cloth diapers, there are TONS of cloth pad options and many stay at home moms who sell them. I recently found Tree Hugger. Crystal is a local mom (she's from Winnipeg) who makes the most comfy soft pads! Can you say minkee? Uh, yeah, that is the ultimate in softness! And with a new innovative fabric called Zorb, they are extremely trim while being just as absorbent as a thicker pad!

Tree Hugger offers awesome pads and liners, with different fabric options and colors. You just HAVE to try them! I have never heard of someone trying cloth that didn't like it. Believe me, there are many benefits. How would you like a lighter flow, less cramping, and possibly a shorter cycle? PICK ME!!! Yes, it's true, most women are way more comfortable with cloth. No more sticky, plasticy pads for me! I hardly notice my cloth pads at all!

Tree Hugger pads are soft, comfy, trim, and just the right length and width for what I need.

Something Snappi & A GIVEAWAY!

It's no secret that I am a cloth diaper lovin' mama! There are just SO many pluses to using cloth diapers...they are WAY more comfy than disposables (not that I've tested them - haha! - but I know many toddlers who will refuse to wear disposable diapers after they've been spoiled with cloth. :) ), they are cheap, they are better for your baby, and the list goes on. I love getting a good deal...and I even want to spend a little money as possible when it comes to cloth diapers. Since I didn't feel like spending a ton of money to get a good diaper collection, my mom and I MADE almost all of the cloth diapers I have. And until this past week I've been using safety pins. :) No snaps, no velcro...just safety pins. It actually isn't even that bad - but I recently found a SUPER invention at Born to Love! It's called a Snappi Diaper Fastener. And it basically hooks onto the fabric and holds the diaper in place. It's safer than safety pins - no risk of poking your 'lil one, it's one size fits all, and I can vouch for the fact that it is VERY easy to use! The Snappi comes in a bunch of fun colors too, and are a great addition to any moms cloth diaper accessory stash!

Magical Pink Solution!

So you know all those stains that you can never get out? Like the raspberry stains, the blueberry stains, the ketchup and mustard stains, the poop stains (yeah...moms have to deals with all sorts of poopy items!), the tomato stains, the permanent marker stains, and the list goes on... You know what kind of stains I'm talking about though, right? The kind that you have to scrub and SCRUB and scrub and then you still can't get the stain out. The kind that you soak for a week and then try to scrub out again and it STILL won't come out all the way. Yeah, I can't say that I've ever been a fan of these kinds of stains...until recently! I'm still not a fan of them...but I don't freak out anymore when Tate spills his juicy raspberries on his white dress shirt. And it's all because of this amazing stuff called Pink Solution. All you do is take a little bit and rub it into the spot where the stain is (the sooner you do it, the better, but it will normally work no matter what), wet it or put it in some water to soak and just leave it there. My favorite part about this is that you don't have to scrub AT ALL! Not even once! And every time - I mean every time - when you go back to check your stained laundry, the stain is gone. It's soooo easy. There isn't any mother on earth that couldn't use something like this for all those tough stains. ;) Plus, what's even better is that Pink Solution is completely natural, non-toxic and biodegradable - 100% safe around children, pets and us! You can rub it into the stain with your bare hands and it is safe. Really, you can use pink solution to clean anything - but my favorite use for it is definitely the scrub-free way to get rid of stains!

Keeping it Pure ~ Pure Anada

Do you know what's in your makeup? Have you checked out how harmful the ingredients are? This is something that has always bothered me, since women around the world are painting their faces with harmful chemicals everyday.

Candace gave me a few products to try. The Rose Garden facial mist is wonderful to give dry skin a boost, just before applying your makeup. It doesn't irritate my skin at all, and leaves it feeling refreshed and hydrated. I always give my face a quick spritz before applying my foundation.

I also got to try a few different eye shadows. Cafe Latte and Stardust are great neutral colors that look natural on almost every skin tone. I also love using the brush to apply eye shadow. It sure beats the itty bitty applicator that comes with typical eye shadows.

Probably my favorite products are the lip stick and lip gloss. Don't you just hate that sticky feeling that some lip glosses leave? Pure Anada lip gloss is super smooth, and doesn't leave a sticky mess! The lip stick is also very moisturizing. Pure Anada has a brand new color of lip gloss called Sheer Opal. It's the perfect finish to any look.

One of our favorite things to do around here is to sit down with our kids and read a good book (good book meaning...the book that they pick! ;) ). I love to read with my kids though - to me reading is more than fun...it's learning too! And I gotta say that I am a WAY bigger fan of reading than I am of watching TV. :) It's even more fun when the book you're reading is personal though. Like, really personal! Having never had the chance to use a heavier weight ring sling before, I I definitely wasn't used to the extra bulk on my shoulder, but after I wore it for a while, I found it to be very comfortable and I was able to wear Bria for over an hour while she slept. I also noticed the extra weight of the tail while putting the sling on, but once Bria was in the sling, I hardly noticed at all. I liked knowing that the sling was super strong and would easily support a growing child.

The tail pocket on the ring sling is a great feature. It is a very generous size, and could easily hold a couple diapers and some wipes! Or just toss in your keys and wallet and you're ready for a shopping trip.

Finally we are experiencing the world of "girl"! With our son, we are full blast into "boy" mode, with trucks, cars, airplanes, etc. We love every minute of "boy-ness", but there is something special about the "girly" side of things too. :) To be honest, I have never been much of a "girly" type of girl.
